    1. What are your top 3 products?
My top three products are the The Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Spray (not sure of the correct wording), coconut oil, and Oyin Hair Dew

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?Last week totally bombed. I went to a conference in DC and found that packing castor oil is not that simple so I was unable to stick to my commitment this week :-(

    • Tazzee

Traveling is always a challenge. One time I tried to put some CO in a small container and it seeped out. Thankfully I also had it in a plastic bag. I’m traveling this weekend so hopefully I’ll find a new way to make it happen.

      • Karemel

I have an old sample bottle of conditioner that I’ve been using to put my grape seed oil in.  If you have something you can re-cycle, that may be a good option (still put it in a plastic or “Ziploc” bag.  I’ve been re-using old bottles/containers for various products.  It’s beneficial in many ways!

    1. What are your top 3 products?

I took four products with me to Germany. These were the only products (plus one I purchased over there) I used for 3 weeks.

Naturalee Olive & Jojoba Buttercream, Whipped Soy Leave In (MY FAVE!!), Avocado & Amla Leave In and of course JBCO. Naturalee products are my fave now. I came home last week looked at the rest of my stash like wth am I going to do with that lmbo.

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did pretty good. A couple of days I neglected it because I was being hella lazy.

  • Onyinyedike

    1. my top fave products are AOHSR conditioner, Giovanni weightless direct leave-in conditioner (or something like that..lol) and the kinky apothecary whipped shea batter.

    2. Giving this challenge my all..i seal every night with castor oil cos my hair is in mini twists and it tends to get drier in this state..hope to see my hair past my nose by the end of this challenge :)

    • onyinyechi uwakwemdike

all that breakage from over manipulating didn’t let this happen.week 9 check in

  • Richelle Thomas

    1. What are your top 3 products?
Shea Moisture  Curl enhancing smoothie, shea moisure hair milk and flax seed gel
    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? The week went very well! I’m putting in Senegalese twists for this last stretch and started taking hair skin and nail vitamins. I want maximum results for the last stretch also!

  • KLeeBaby

    1. What are your top 3 products? My top three products I like are Shea Moisture deep masque; KCCNT leave in conditioner; and JBCO
    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? AWESOME!! I followed through and NO challenges with my hair. But I am getting “flack” from a hairstylist and barber about the benefits of CO. I actually have a bet, free haircut, with my son’s barber. He says that the CO will NOT improve  his hairline…I say it will…I am going to win the bet!!

    • Thianita Brown

It totally will. My hairline is growing like gangbusters!

  • Estelle

I thought I better get this done since I went to be early last night and forgot all day. I need to put the check in as an appointment in my phone to remember!

    1. What are your top 3 products? Shea Moisture deep treatment masque, Shea Moisture moisture rentention shampoo, and cococare coconut oil.

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

No challenges, but I think I need to go back to applying everyday instead of 3 times a week. When I apply now my scalp itches again. When I was doing everyday, it was use to it. I have been applying at least 3 times during the week. This weekend I am getting Tree Braids, so finally going to try the hot oil treatment! Once I get the braids I will just be applying the oil to my scalp in the oil/water mixture I sure. I am happy about the results so far  and think I will sign up for the fall challenge also.

    • Tishana Trainor

I found the same happening to me with the itching. I started applying everyday, too…

  • http://twitter.com/lez_not No.

    1. Well im in the middle of trying products so I can get solid with stuff sooo, Aubrey organics honeysuckle rose, miss Jessie curly pudding and hair rules ultra quench conditioner

My top three are Aussie Moist and 3 minute Moist conditioner, Eco Styler Protein Gel, and Castor Oil!
    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Last week went well. Its starting to feel more and more like a routine and easier to do. I applied 3 times last week, sealed and oiled my edges and eyebrows daily. Luckily, no challenges so far! Looking forward to seeing more growth. I just marked my one year healthy hair anniversary and my hubby has suggested I go for a cut to shape my curls! I haven’t done anything except trim my own ends. Can’t wait!

  • NatashaP

    1. I’m SUCH a PJ, it’s hard to pin it down to just 3! Right this moment, I’m loving Qhemet Biologics detangling ghee and Amla and olive heavy cream; also the Be Beautiful lemongrass meadow spritz.

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I think I did very well. The new growth on my braids is pretty crazy, and I cannot help but this the application of Castor Oil has helped!! Yay!!

I did good, kept covering my edges with JBCO and kept my two strand twists in updos for maximum protection! It’s so hot and dry here! I can’t believe only 4 weeks left. Challenge is doing more with my JBCO.
Will probably have to join the next challenge and buy more JBCO to see more results on my hair. It seems that my edges are doing better though with the JBCO and protective styling.

Black Jamaican Castor Oil; Shea Radiance Hair Milk Spray (makes my hair so SOFT!!); Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie
    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I have realized I am using Jamaican castor oil daily where as before I would forget or just would use every so often. But since I have been using the Castor oil I have known a significant amount of hair growth! This has truly been a journey and this short stage of growing out hasn’t been exciting. But I know I would NEVER go back to perms

And I must say grapeseed oil is GREAT at combating freeze!!! Since starting this challenge my curls are much more manageable, very shiny and soft.

    1. Castor oil! My hair LOVES it! I don’t know why I ever stopped using it! It makes my hair so soft, moisturized, and shiny! Glycerin! I love it in my water bottle! I put 1/4 glycerin to 3/4 water! It keeps my hair moisturized for days! Lastly, Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Fortifying conditioner! I love the creaminess and thickness of it! Has great slip for my hair and smells delicious! Plus it’s silicone-free! I don’t think I’ll ever give these products up! I get good results with them!
     2. Yes! I’ve done well this week. Monday I began doing box braids and I finished Wednesday ( I took my sweet time lol). I used my shea butter mix to braid and moisturize my hair! I can tell my hair is growing because it’s fuzzy in some places (by that I mean the shorter hairs, like my edges and crown where I’ve had breakage). I’ve added 1/3 glycerin to 2/3 castor oil and a few drops of peppermint oil for smell! My hair really likes it! I also use it on my body. I don’t think I’m going to need any other products!

  • Tishana Trainor

Hi, everyone! Hope you are all enjoying your week!

    1. What are your top 3 products?
I really am struggling with this… As my hair grows, I seem to find different products that may work. But, right now, at 4 inches, my top 3 fave products are Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banana Hair Butta, Oyin Hair Dew, and plain old Castor Oil. I still havent found a styler/gel that my hair likes, but Smooth & Shine Curl Activator gel is creeping up on me… If you all can suggest.. Ive used Eco Styler, Devacurl AnGel, and Curl Junkie Pattern Pusha with no luck…

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great. I was in DC for all of the last week, and didnt have my clays to wash on Saturday, so I just cowshed with Giovanni tea tree condish, and still used the CJ HBHB and castor oil pomade (sealer). I tried Jane Carter’s curl defining cream, but it kept my hair wet too long… I kept using the Curls of the World castor oil pomade overnight. It was so humid there so my hair was a puffball the whole time, and that was the only challenge, so I turned lemons into lemonade and wore a fro… :)

    • Ayana

I have the same problem as my hair grows, but one line that I used when I first bc’d and still use is kinky curly. It’s the only thing that curls my hair the way that I like I lasts a few days. Also I tried shea moisture which I didn’t have a good experience with at first, but may try again since my hair has changed some.

  • MahoganyDST

My top three products are: Castor Oil, Qhemet’s AOHC, As I Am Coconut Cowash

I did well last week no challenges for me!  I’ll be on vacation this week so I’m nervous but hopeful that I can keep up with my goals!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Cecilia-Walcott/671326735 Cecilia Walcott

    1. What are your top 3 products?

So afar I have only two top products Cantu Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream & Castor Oil. I am very new to natural hair….LOL

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Last week was great was able to use Castor Oil in my scalp and edges daily and LOC 4 times. No challenges.

  • Ayana

    1. What are your top 3 products? hmm, let’s see, I love the design essentials moisturizer it makes my hair so soft. The kinky curly line works well for me to do wash & go’s. I also love wen it has done wonders for my hair, this along with JBCO is making my hair longer, softer and thicker, which I love love love!!!
    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did fairly well last week, I only missed two days of oiling my scalp. The only challenge I having (which I can definitely get used to) is the growth of my edges (which broke off when I had two strand twists with extension last year). when I do my puffs it takes a little more work to make these areas lay down.

  • Symone Michelle

    1. What are your top 3 products?
That’s a tough one because I don’t really do much products but the ones I do use, I love! Elasa QP Creame Conditioning Shampoo, Castor oil, Coconut oil

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

    1. my top three products are: shea butter, castor oil and garnier fructis leave in conditioner
    2. this week i did ok but last week i did sooo much better. my hair got the needed castor oil tlc that it needed after taking my braids out. i can’t believe we only have 4 weeks left! i reignited my excitement since i have a new focus area — my edges — that I want to see growth in by the end of this challenge

  • http://www.facebook.com/MissArielNicole Ariel Jones

1.) My top three products have to be my Eco Styler Gel of course. Some kind of conditioner (I haven’t found my golden one yet, because it seems that my hair decides to throw a temper tantrum and stop producing successful wash n’ go’s if I use that same conditioner for too long). And Castor Oil is becoming a staple. I’m not super consistent with products, so it’s difficult to create even a top 3 list.

2.) I did very well this past week applying every day. I’ve even added vitamins to my regiment so hopefully that combo should maximize the growth seen in these last few weeks. I would say I promise to hold off on the heat, but that would probably be a lie since I like to stretch my hair once a week via blow dryer. Perhaps, I’ll only blow dry if absolutely necessary, Like going out.

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Week 8 was my best week thus far, I (finally) applied CO to my scalp, the length of my hair and as usual, to my edges.  All week I have had my BEST hair week!  I think I have officially found my staple routine.  YAY!! :-D

2 How did you do last week? I am guilty of not found anything last week or the week before…I was away on vacay and just didn’t have the energy. I kept my hair conditioned and twisted and tucked. But I didn’t do my oil treatments as I’d wanted… ( insert sad face)

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Was on vacation and did a wash  and substituted with Aussie 3-minute conditioner instead of my usual. My hair felt dry and brittle, but the oil helped a lot with that. I’m still struggling with my edges. Getting depressed about it, but I know that I can’t do anything about it right now.

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I  did very well.  Although I haven’t felt the need to LOC lately, I have been massaging the castor oil on my scalp and at the roots of my hair on a nightly basis.  I’m really getting into the groove, now that we’re down the home stretch.  I’ve signed up for the Fall challenge as well.  I’m not ready to stop this just yet!

  • Clewis 27

My top three products now are aloe vera gel, SM curl enhancing smoothie and eco styler argan oil gel
I did pretty well last week. I finally restocked on jbco so i was able to resume back to my regular routine. I applied jbco mixed with coconut oil 4-5x a week always mostly to my edges. Im definately seeing an improvment on my edges, not as much as i would like but the rest of my hair is getting thicker. My challeges so far is the extreme dryness ive been experiencing but the aloe vera gel has been helping with that. My hair finally starting to retain more moisture. The aloe vera gel has been my miracle. Also i have to work on not having my hand in my head all the time. I have ahabit of pulling my ssk when im bored or stressed and i know its not good for my hair but i cant help it. My other challenge is finding hairstyles. I still have a twa but its not as teeny as it was a few moths ago and i sometimes dont know what to do with it. I actually cant wait till fall so i can put some braids in my hair.

I will definately be signing up for the fall challenge :)

Last week was greet. I have started using the oil on m my scalp as well as my edges.

  • Thianita Brown

    1) What are MY three top products?  This is really hard bcs I mostly use just black soap, apple cider vinegar, and baking soda and oils.  Hmm, I’ll have to say that the new lavender JBCO is #1 (cuz it feels good and smells nice), followed by the apple cider vinegar (bcs it keeps my scalp from flaking) and then….I really love Burt’s Bees Brazil Nut and Raspberry conditioner, but it’s out of production :-(

    2) I did okay last week. I’m trying to remember if I applied 2x or 3x.  I must’ve gotten out of whack with my washing schedule, because my scalp got FLAAAAKYYYYYYY and I had to emergency wash, lol.  It feels great now, though.  Still getting the fuzzies around the edges from my extra growth! I totally tried to take a pic of them but I just can’t hold the phone right!

  • http://www.facebook.com/naturalbeautiqueen NaturalBeauti Hester

My 3 favorite products is Naturaly Curly leave in conditioner, shea moisture curl mik and tropical roots growth oil.

Last week I did well ordered some more jbco. I got more this time since I plan to continue using it. I did do some micros for a few weeks still using the jbco as a moisturizer.

Sorry for the late check in! I was in GA and didn’t have access to a computer!
    1. What are your top 3 products?
Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap Purification Masque, Trader Joes Nourish Spa Condish, and Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie! These are the only 3 products that have consistently great results for me!

    2. How did you do last week (week 8)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I didn’t oil my scalp as much as I wanted to. But I did use the condish I added the rosemary JBCO at least twice, oiled my scalp once, and sealed my ends once.

  • shanta ferguson

    1. What are your top 3 products?
I use a lot of different things but what I use the most is 6n1 moisturizer, Kera Care Hair Milk, and Kera Care Butter Cream and Castor Oil.

    2. How did you do last week? Did you follow through on your goals? Last week is a complete blur. I did however use Castor Oil twice last week on my scalp. But also used it as a sealant on my twist out. Only challenge is trying to not get a protective style before this challenge end.

  • April

I am so late but I wanted to respond…My top three products are Shea Moisture’s Curl Enhancing Smoothie and African Black Soap Conditioner as well as my Shea Butter, Olive and Coconut Oil mixture. I managed to only do my temples 2x per week last week so I need to do better.
