Trend Alert: Sneaker Wedge

By Ravis — August 17, 2012

Lets face it, we’ve all tried to come up with ways to be both fashionable and sporty. We’ve also had the moments where we want to accomplish two looks in one. Since we can’t marry the items in our closets, we have to trust fashion. Good for us, one very popular hybrid is making a comeback: the sneaker wedge! We’ve seen the not so trendy Spice Girl version but this year’s sneaker wedges are HOT! Tons of today’s hottest designers are remixing this oldie but goodie with a modern-day twist.

What are they?

A sneaker wedge is a hybrid of a sneaker and a wedge heel shoe. The wedge is hidden inside of the design of the sneaker. (And we all know how amazing and comfortable wedges are.) This style is both trendy and functional being one of this year’s shoes to watch as well as one of the most comfy. Its supportive wedge makes wearing them easy on your feet.

Why are they amazing?

The combination of these 2 shoe styles is sort of amazing. You get that “sexy leg” effect that all women LOVE with the comfort and look of a sneaker. You can dress them up or down depending on what brand or style you get. They are also good for cross-season wearing. You can spot them in multiple colors and fabrics that will easily transition them from spring to fall.

How can you wear them?

The sneaker wedge is a very versatile shoe. You can pair this eye-catching shoe with a sassy skirt or with a pair of skinny jeans. They’ve been seen on celebs like Beyoncé and Kate Bosworth being paired with everything from chiffon skirts to patterned leggings.  Whether you have a simple wardrobe or an eclectic one, there will definitely be something to pair these fabulous shoes with.

Who makes them?

The sneaker wedge has taken the runway by storm this year. You can find designers like Chloe, Giuseppe Zannoti, and Marc Jacobs with this attention-grabbing shoe. But never fear, there are many brands with a pocket friendly price designing sneaker wedges as well. You can also find this trendy sneaker by Steve Madden, Aldo, Nike, and Nine West.
