Product Review: Wonder Curl Butter than Love Hair Whipped

By Stacy L. — September 22, 2012

Product Name: Wonder Curl Butter than Love Hair Whipped
Price: $12/$20 (purchase)
Size: 4 oz/8 oz

Product Description:
Butter than Love Hair Whipped is a dream for parched curls. This thick and rich cream is loaded with oils and butters resulting in hair that is full of life and bounce.

Ingredients:
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Caprylic/Capric/Stearic Glycerides, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Acrylates/C-10 Alkyl Acrylates, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance

My Experience:
I applied to damp freshly co-washed and conditioned hair. I first applied my leave-in then the hair whipped. I applied a small amount to each section, evenly distributing and then applied a little extra on the ends. I then twisted my hair for a twist-out.

Fragrance:
Although fragrance was listed in the ingredients, I detected no smell at all. I was a little disappointed because I expected such a rich, thick, buttery product to have some kind of delicious smell. However as someone who has been turned off from products in the past due to overpowering scents, I would prefer an unscented product over a heavily scented one any day.

Results:
My twist-out was soft, moisturized and well defined. The first time I used it I was running late for a birthday party and after sitting under the dryer for an hour, my hair was still damp when I took my twists down. Despite the slight dampness, my hair was very well defined and held the style all night. It never frizzed or anything. It actually ended up air drying as the night went on and you would’ve never known it wasn’t fully dry at takedown. I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this product. Although I’m a big fan of heavy creams and butters for my hair, when I opened up the Hair Whipped my initial thought was “wow I’ve never seen anything this thick” and I thought it may be too much for even my thick, thirsty tresses. I had a bad feeling that my hair might come out heavy and weighed down. However, my hair was far from product laden. Just as the label claimed, my hair was full of life and bounce!

Moisture:
Upon takedown of my twists my hair was moisturized and remained moist until my next wash day 7 days later. Hair whipped works great as a sealant and I think I would be an excellent winter sealant even for those people who wouldn’t normally use such a heavy product.

Price:
When you break it down per ounce, I think it’s rather pricey, but you don’t need to use a lot of this product so it should last a long time. For that reason I feel like it’s worth the price. Also considering that it can be a double duty product as a styler and a sealant, I think that also makes it worth the money.

Final Thoughts:
Butter than Love Hair Whipped is a winner for me!!! I give it a 5-star rating. I’ll definitely be adding it to my rotation as a regular go-to product. It’s absolutely worth a try if you’re a fan of creams and butters.

Have you tried it? What did you think?
