Product Review: NARS Taj Mahal Blush

By Miss FabEllis — July 05, 2012

Product Name:  NARS Taj Mahal Blush

Price:  $28.00

Product Description: The ultimate authority in blush, NARS offers the industry’s most iconic shades for cheeks. Natural, healthy-looking color that immediately enlivens the complexion. A light application of even the highest-intensity hues delivers a natural-looking flush.

My Experience:  Although it had been some time since I had used a product from NARS, as soon as I took it out of the package, I became familiar once again with the sleek, secure packaging.  The highly pigmented blush comes in a sturdy case.  I was able to open and close the case with ease.  Also, the case is secure enough so that if it falls, it usually will not open.  Also, the blush inside was pressed firmly so when I swiped it with my finger or brush, there was no excess powder left.  The blush was true to color and with one or two strokes of my brush, I had an abundance of color.

My Results:  Let me make this plain and simple…  I now see why so many beauty bloggers and experts name this as the best blush for women of color.  Amazing!  My cheeks automatically looked warm and glowy once I applied this blush.  Plus, it amazed me how a color that appeared orange in the case could come out looking more like a bronze on the cheeks.  The color is so flattering that you could honestly wear a bold lipstick and not worry about the colors clashing.  This has been my go-to blush ever since it was delivered!

Price:  I have to be honest.  As much as I love this blush, the price is a bit steep.  I’m an advocate for affordable beauty products and the majority of my blushes cost no more than $5.  On the other hand, for those who have a single makeup routine or wear makeup on special occasions, this may be an item worth having because you will get the ultimate use from it.

Final Thoughts:  NARS Taj Mahal lives up to its reputation.  After hearing for months that it was the universal flatterer, I can now say its true.  Even with its expensive price tag, I can say that it is a must-have for women of color.  It gives a beautiful glow to the skin and since it can be worn with any lip shade, it’s a definite beauty essential.

Would you purchase NARS Taj Mahal?

Someone just mentioned Exhibit A to me last week!  I definitely think I need to put that on my list of must-haves.  NARS might have reeled me in once again.  Are there any drugstore blushes that you love?

I would love to buy NARS but I could only afford to buy it discounted… But I definitely will put this shade on my wishlist now, so one day I might treat myself lol!

Thanks for reading the post Nia!  I definitely understand where you are coming from.  There is always a dupe for everything.  Try NYX Cosmetics’ Mosiac Blush in Love:

Hey Racheal!  Thanks for checking out this post.  I don’t have a tutorial on my brows as of yet, BUT… I do have an article I wrote on brows and how I maintain mine.  It also has a tutorial by a YouTuber who uses a very similar process.  Here is the article:

I am lusting over this blush. I want this so bad, but I have to order it online. I am such an instant gratification person that it’s hard to do so… But seeing this review, and looking at it on your skin, makes me think I should just go ahead and buy it! Thanks for sharing!
