By Jenell — August 25, 2012

Product Name: Jane Carter Solution Nourish & Shine
Price: $22
Size: 4 oz

Product Description:
You have never experienced a product as fabulous as Nourish & Shine! We blend all natural vitamins and essential oils to create this incredible hair nourisher. It completely melts in your hair and adds amazing shine and never leaves your hair feeling greasy or limp. Nourish & Shine helps reduce dryness on your scalp and your skin! Be careful … daughters and husbands have been known to abscond with this product, so buy two for them and one for you!”

Ingredients:
Shea butter, Kokum butter, Illippe butter, Mango butter, Vitamins A, D, & E, grapefruit essential oils. squalene

My Experience:
I’ve used this product when doing twists and twistouts to seal in moisture and add shine. I also applied the product when taking out flat-twists I had done with the Jane Carter Solution Wrap and Roll to prevent frizzing and add shine as I untwisted the flat twists. I put a small amount in my hand and distributed thru my hair, and then as I took out each twist to prevent frizz.

Fragrance:
The product has a grapefruit scent.

Results:
I found that this product does great for sealing in moisture, adding shine and preventing frizz. It also leave my hands soft and smooth as well. However, it didn’t leave my hair greasy or weighed down.

Moisture:
This product really seals in moisture and adds lots of shine.

Price:
While I do understand the price point based on the ingredients, this product is a bit pricey for only 4oz for me personally. If I was to purchase this product, it would be a ‘luxury’ item that I would use it sparingly so that it would last a nice long time.

Final Thoughts:
This product is definitely one I will continue to use in the future. I love the scent, and that it leaves the hair shiny and frizz-free without being greasy or heavy. The ingredients are really awesome and truly are nourishing for the hair. It definitely lives up to its name.

Have you tried it? What did you think?

curious to know if this is a “paid” (in anyway..product..money..or any type of benefits) review.. Only because this is extremely pricey and want to know of all factors included in the review. Thank you.

i honestly believe this product is only for certain individuals who can afford to spend lots and lots of money freely and not for the regular customer

I have it & I love it on my 4c hair. Sometimes it’s better for me to purchase something that I KNOW works well on my hair even it it means spending a lil ,more $ than I’d like vs buying something I’m unsure of then being stuck with it. & a lil goes a long way with this product too.

Amen we spend small amounts on hair products that are not good for our hair… And it really adds up to waste. $22 is well worth the money for a healthy hair result. Cara

I use it on my skin and I love it! It is pricey for only being 4 ounces but it is the only thing that helps with my dry skin.

I use this so muh that I am a walking advertisement. I do agree on the price but I recently went a hair show where JC had a both set up and bought 4 jars for $10 bucks a piece. That was the best deal in town. I seal my end while the hair is wet while two strand twisting and it cuts down on the frizz and tangles when taking out the twist. I am in LOVE with Noursh and Shine.

I love Jane Carter products for my locs. I actually did some digging and I found a BSS that sells them for at least half the price.

Going off on another tangent…..have people considered the fact that it might be better to spend a little more money on one product that works CONSISTENTLY well than spend the same amount of money on four or five products that are in no way beneficial?

  • Michael

I found that a little bit goes a really long way. So although you may spend a little more, it lasts 3-4X longer than most of the other products that I have tried. I have psoriasis and it makes a big difference on my skin too!

This is a great product. Yes it is pricey, but I use it sparingly. I love the smell and it does what it says.
