I have not used Dark and Lovely anything in years and am not likely to. Part of my own hair care journey is not only appreciating and celebrating and validating the natural texture of my hair but also giving homage to black owned hair care businesses as the foundation for my hair (or else using all natural or minority based products) it is so easy to just buy whatever by whoever with no regard to how certain products or advertising sell to us as black women while at the same time possibly denigrating us. Soft sheen carson is no longer a black owned company–I cannot relate to that anymore–just a small and very personal step I have chosen to take to not only reclaim the right to my natural hair but to also help uplift other minorities as they attempt to personally address some of the needs our hair requires.

When we negate ourselves and fail to exercise our choices, we should not be surprised when other cultures become comfortable in negating us also and why many of our youth practice self denial and self hatred–it STARTS with self. black owned hair care companies please.

Crappy ingredients masked with a wonderful yet sickening sweet smell. Some of the products could not be used in conjunction with each other, at least on MY HAIR. i love the 10-n-1 gelee for a wash and go but it does leave the hair quite crunchy. To negate that i thought i proceeded to moisturize with the soufflé first and that left me with a white gummy residue all over my head. I do not like the soufflé on my hair alone, i find it quite oily and does little when it comes to “anti-shrinkage” in the Miami weather where moisture always fills the air but i wont argue with that because many products dont. I just dont understand why they market all the products as anti-shrinkage when GLYCERIN is placed so high on the list of ingredients on all of their products, but i digress

    None the less, ill pass.

i’m am very, very, very hesitant to purchase from white owned companies who are following black hair trends just to make a dollar off of us. this is why i try my best to buy black hair care products when at all possible.

i will NOT be buying this line, african pride, mizani, and the long host of other companies who only cares about a profit and not our hair care needs per se.

Hi Jenell, I just ran across your videos today while researching the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale products. I would like to know what product you would recommend for hair that’s really curly. My hair naturally curls any time it is moisturized. I have been natural all my life. I usually use Liv on my hair. In the winter months I press or straighten my hair with the old timey straightening comb. I want a product that will define my curls without drawing my hair up. I do not have to rod my hair. I juct wash, moisturize, style, snd go. Please recommend something if you can. Thanks for being a Naturally Beautiful Black Woman.

I bought the products and they made my hair very hard and kinky.

  • Foxye50

I was very disappointed after use of these products. I followed directions but my hair became very kinky and hard. Any hints from those who had success with these products. My hair is not naturally hard.
