STEP 1: Your regimen should include 0-2 shampoos in a month. You don’t need to shampoo at all because conditioner can clean your hair, but if you use lots of thick products then shampoo your SCALP with a sulfate free shampoo. ( I suggest Giovanni Deeper Moisture or Organix Coconut milk).
STEP 2: Your regimen should include conditioner! Condition your hair no less then 1x a week. More is fine, but less is bad. Find a conditioner with no silicones or any products ending in -cone. (I suggest Giovanni Deeper Moisture, Organix has cones, but I did love using it). I also deep condition 1x a week (Organics Mayonnaise), this should always be done after you shampoo. You want to make sure you restore moisture back in your hair.
STEP 3: DETANGLE! Detangle your hair 1x a week with conditioner and a wide tooth comb (or with your fingers if you have a TWA like me!) You can find videos on YouTube that teach you proper techniques. Watch KimmayTube on YouTube — You will love her!!!
STEP 4: Find a product that will seal in the moisture from the water and conditioner. Your hair needs to be sealed because the water and conditioner will dry up. Use an oil to seal your hair. I prefer coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, and raw shea butter. Mix them up together (or a use them individually.) Rub in hair (not scalp). Or you can try my favorite Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, but don’t use too much! Doing this should hold in the moisture for a few days. If you find that your hair is feeling dry you can spritz your hair with water and add conditioner.
STEP 5: Style and Maintain. Find a style you like and set your hair at night. Always braid or twist your hair at night. Always wear a satin bonnet or scarf at night. Dont play in your hair when its wet.
Now the rest is on you. Create your regimen, decide which day or days during the week you will give your hair TLC, decide which products you will use and only use them.
