Natural Hair Disasters! – Bree

Dear KCCM,

I have a natural hair disaster from my past that I want to share with you.

When starting the process of going natural almost all women desire instant growth.  A few years ago there was a product all the newly naturals were raving about was called Wild Growth Hair Oil. It was very oily and messy!

The directions on the bottle were not clear; and to make things worse – it smelled like beef jerky and bay leaves

After a week of use, my pillows, my robe, and my towels all smelled of this disgusting hair oil.  My husband asked me to please stop using it because I made the bedroom smelled like collard greens.

It was my first natural hair learning experience, and the moral of this story was if your hair smells like collard greens, you won’t have many friends.

Lol! I use that product all the time and it does smell really bad. Though I do still use it, I try to add a small amount oppose to drenching your hair to the point that it gets on the pillows. And just to my scalp and use a scented conditioner spray to block out the smell, it works!
