Mud Wash for a Clean Scalp

By MissT1806

To promote healthy hair it is important to cleanse your hair of product build up. Sulfate shampoos are too harsh for our natural hair and too stripping of its moisture. While there are a ton of sulfate-free shampoos on the market one alternative is a mud wash.

What? Wash my hair with mud?

Exactly!

Here is a great Do-It-Yourself mud wash recipe that is sure to cleanse your scalp without stripping it dry.

The benefits of bentonite clay for the hair are abundant.
Bentonite clay is known to:
· increase curl definition
· increase shine
· great anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and anti-bacterial

Don’t let me stop you. Try out this recipe and reveal your beautiful “popping” coils and curls

Recipe

2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
1/3 cup of warmed up aloe vera juice
And then I add one tablespoon of honey.
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
4-5 drops of tea tree oil
4-5 drops of lavender essential oil.

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together. The warm aloe vera juice will reduce formation of lumps and allow the coconut to blend easily. Once all ingredients are mixed into a paste, transfer into an applicator bottle for easier application. Dilute with about ½ – ¾ cup of water and proceed to wash your hair.

I have 3c/4a hair and my curls LOVE betonite clay. I would recommend using more ACV than water, only because of the ph balance. Also, when I did mine, I didn’t do a “recipe”. I just kinda free handed it lol. I used two scoops of clay, acv, coconut oil, aloe juice, olive oil, and a little castor oil, few drops of tea tree, sandalwood, and ylang ylang. It made enough for my thick hair and my friend and I to do face masks.

Would this mold if you kept it for a couple of months?
