Kira’s Fall Favorites

By Kira — October 12, 2012

Where oh where did the summer go? I think I’m the only person who has no interest in the answer to this question. I hate summer! I hate the heat, the sweating, and the bad hair days. But I love the cooler seasons, especially the Fall.

With the change of the seasons, it’s necessary to change your product rotation and even some aspects of your regime.  As the temperature and the dew points dip, I’ve been dipping into my Fall stash. Here’s a few of my favorite products for Fall!

Leave in Conditioner/ Moisturizer

Reve’ Essentials Hair and Body Moisturizer, $8 for 8oz, shipping charges may vary. Availability (online only): ReveEssentials.com

A new kid on the block, Reve Essentials has been getting rave reviews on Youtube and Facebook. When I decided to take the plunge I was not disappointed. I love that it’s glycerin free (no need to worry about dew points) and it is very moisturizing. It also doesn’t cause buildup and it works well on wet or dry hair (I usually use it on wet hair). Furthermore, there are a variety of great scents to choose from including: fruity, birthday cake, strawberry, lemon, and Crème brûlée to name a few. The scent I’ve been using is the Birthday Cake scent which I do not like. However, once that’s gone, I have 2 more bottles in the cookie scent which is very nice. It smells like gingerbread cookies and cinnamon! For those who are interested, the cookie scent has become seasonal and should be available for purchase around this time of year.

Deep Conditioner

B.A.S.K Cocoa Bark Deep Conditioning Hair Treat, $20 for 8oz, Flat rate shipping ($5). Availability (Online Only): BaskBeauty.com

B.A.S.K is another new company that is aiming to please and then some. I absolutely love this deep conditioner! It’s extremely moisturizing with awesome exotic ingredients such as coca butter, virgin coconut cream, amalaki fruit powder, and moluccano seed oil. I usually use this product on freshly shampooed hair (no need to use a rinse out conditioner before). And the smell!!!!!!! The smell is very chocolaty and delicious. I also consider this Deep Conditioner a treat. I probably use it once a month so it lasts quite a long time.
Butter (in the cooler months I use them for sealing and styling)

Darcy’s Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Crème, 20$ for 16 oz, $12 for 8oz, shipping charges may vary
Availability (In some stores and online, check the website): DarcysBotanicals.com

I love butters! They are great sealants for the cold weather! My favorite fall butter is Dacry’s Botanicals Madagascar Vanilla Styling Crème. I love to use this on dry hair for twist outs. It leaves a nice shine and it smells like real vanilla! I also use it on top of other stylers or moisturizers to seal in moisture. It’s packed with oils such as palm oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, and rice bran oil. It even has aloe vera juice for some extra moisture content.

Oil

Sunny Isle Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil, $11.99- $18.99 (plus shipping) for 8oz
Availability (Online, hard to find on the ground but might be available): Amazon (Various prices ($11.99- $23.99 and shipping costs), JamaicanOils.com (for $13.99 + shipping), JamaicanCastorOil.com (for $11.99 + shipping)

My favorite thicker oil is Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil! It’s really thick! In the summer I had issues with it running down my face and neck when I engaged in physical activity. But with the cooler temperatures, I don’t have that issue at all! This Castor oil is like a miracle oil. I love the smell! It really cuts down on the roasted nut smell of plain JBCO. It thickens your hair, helps reduce breakage, and it softens the hair. With the stimulating properties of rosemary, this castor oil really promotes hair thickening and growth. I love putting it on my scalp and add it to conditioners often.

These are my Fall favorites! Most of them are only available online! It’s not that I don’t like drug store products but I find the stuff that I order online really work for my hair. And I’m also a product junkie! The selection online is something serious. Happy hair days everyone!
