Jojoba Oil for Hair

By Jenell — March 15, 2013

I always recommend moisturizing with water and then sealing with an oil.  The water is absorbed by the cuticle layer of your hair strand and the oil will seal in the moisture.  I’ve never used Jojoba Oil but I hear a lot of great.

About Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is an extract of the seeds of jojoba plant, also known as Simmondsia chinensis.  Being widely recognized for its amazing moisturizing properties, jojoba oil is one of the important natural product in the cosmetic industry. Nowadays, this oil is an indispensable part of many shampoos, conditioners and a range of skin care products, formulated for sun protection, as well as for fighting the signs of aging like, wrinkles and fine lines.

Is Jojoba Oil Good For Hair?

YES! Jojoba oil with some of its amazing properties can prove extremely useful for most of the modern day hair problems, such as dandruff, hair loss, dryness of hair and split ends. Jojoba oil is an effective scalp cleanser.  Jojoba oil, as a scalp cleanser can help to get rid of crusted sebum on your scalp, which in turn, may help to reduce hair fall and breakage.  Jojoba oil is an excellent hair conditioner, which can be used to get rid of dry and frizzy hair. It can seal in the moisture in the hair shaft and add a natural glow and luster to your hair, by minimizing the damage caused by harsh chemicals and pollutants.

Jojoba Oil for Hair Growth

Jojoba oil can be used to give your hair a hot oil treatment, prior to shampooing, in order to stimulate hair growth.   If your hair is very dry, then add about a teaspoon of jojoba oil to your regular hair conditioner and apply it thoroughly on your hair. Let it sit for a few minutes, after which rinse it off, but do not shampoo your hair again. Otherwise, you can take a few drops of this oil on your palm, rub it and then apply thoroughly on the hair, when it is wet. If your hair is frizzy and unmanageable, then you can rub a few drops of jojoba oil on your palm and fingers and then run your fingers through your dry hair, in order to smooth out the frizz.
