One of the first things I thought about when I found out I was pregnant (outside of having a healthy baby), was how I was going to transition my wardrobe without spending a fortune. Sure maternity wear has come a long way, but who wants to spend money on clothes you only plan on wearing for a while? Luckily during the first trimester, you won’t have to give up your skinny jeans or fitted shirts.
Here are a few things to get you by as your bump starts to take over your life and wardrobe.
1. Invest in maternity jeans, maybe two pairs. H&M has affordable options.
2. Use belts. Wearing jackets as dresses or cover ups with jeans or skirts look so much better with a belt to give you shape.
3. Play with colors. Color blocking adds visual interest and gives spectators something to look at other than your belly.
4. Make dresses your best friends. Look in your closet and find dresses that are forgiving in the waist.
