How To Do a Faux Long Braid

By Jenell — May 07, 2013

Looking for a new protective hair style?

This is a really cute spin on the “weave ponytail”

What you need:

Braiding Hair
Gel/Pudding/Pomade
Elastic Band
Silk Scarf
Pins

What you need to do:

Start off this style by getting all your hair into a very tight small bun. Use gel, hair pudding, pomade or anything else that will give you a smooth sleek finish.

Put a satin/silk scarf over your hair to smooth it down. When it dries, you can start attaching your faux long braid.

You can use whichever type of hair you want. For a more natural looking ponytail, use hair that matches your texture. For a funkier look, use colored hair. The possibilities are endless.

Braid the hair from top to bottom. Leave a big loop at the top to allow a place for the braid to sit on top of your bun. Leave a thick piece of hair out of the braid so you can use that to wrap the braiding hair around your pony tail.

Place your faux ponytail over your bun, wrap the thick piece you left out around your bun and pin it into place. Keep wrapping until all the hair is pinned.
