I must first say THANK YOU to Jenell and the KCCM family for providing/facilitating/participating in this amazing outlet!! I came here for hair advice and became encouraged and driven to take care of both my hair and body!!! In life it is often the simple things that catapult us into greatness! Thank you

I juiced 3 times last week. I made one pitcher of smoothie and stretched it each day by adding more fruits and greens. I cut prep time in half because it was a hectic and trying week and my drive was lacking.
I have noticed a change in my regularity as well as energy. I did’nt feel burnt out at the end of the week like I typically am.
I do not think I have lost weight( did not weigh myself at the beginning of challenge) I do feel my work uniforms sagging a little bit :-)
My FAV recipe was spinach, kale, half cucumber, 1/2 avocado, handful of grapes, 6-8 frozen strawberries, one kiwi and one banana blended with ice cubes. DELISH!!!
Starting off I set extremely high goals in the fitness area with very limited access and time. I will have to say power walking 8 floors of my job and doing the stairs has been my fav exercise.
I loooovvveee the quote!! It affirms my desire to a greater self. I have to and need to take control of MY life and future. I need to shape the visions of my future into being. I know that I need to start with phyical, mental and spiritual health and renewal.
**For the coming month I hope to add a meal suppliment to my smoothies. I also hope to rev up my activities. I will have to bite the bullet and cut into sleep time to work out if I want to see the results I desire.
**CONGRATS TO ALL THE LADIES THAT TRIUMPHED! You all inspire me!
**To the ladies that desire more, May you find the strength and direction to keep on pushing!!!!

I’m gonna have to try this recipe (probably won’t bother with the kiwi, always irritates my tongue with lie bumps). Did you taste the avocado in it at all?

      • yardie_chick

I did not taste the avocado in the smoothie. However, It did give it a smoother/ richer texture.

        • Anthonia Anyanwu

thanks. i’ll let you know when I make it!

I juiced 3 times last week. I think I lost maybe 4lbs and that was due to not maintaining healthy eating habits during the weekend.
I worked every day last week except Sunday.
Reflection: The words from this picture confirms what this challenge helped me to realize: that I am hindering this journery during the weekends so I am challenging myself for the next 4 weeks to work on my weekend habits.
I log my journey on myfitnesspal.com my screenname is SexyIsPainful…. I welcome any new friends!!!!!

    • yardie_chick

I will have to check our that website. I have been looking for an online community to log my journey and hopefully inspire me to keep moving. I understand what you said about the weekends. Just keep pushing and remain focus on the goal.

    1. JUICE – How many days did you juice last week (week 3)? Have you noticed any changes in your mind, body, skin, health, energy since you began juicing 4 weeks ago?
I juiced everyday last week. Everytime I drink one, 10 minutes later, it feels like someone cut on a extra set of lights upstairs. I am more focused, my skin glows, and I have somuch energy, I find myself becoming restless!
OPTIONAL – Have you lost any weight? How much? Have you gone down in any clothing sizes?
I don’t own a scale, but I my clothes fit looser! I will be in the mall as soon as my ankle heals to try on clothes!
OPTIONAL – share your favorite recipe!
same recipe as always, but add blueberries. It’s no longer green, but it is sweeter!!
    2. MOVE – Did you meet your movement goals last week (week 2)? Do you feel a change in your energy or body since you started moving? What is your favorite activity?
I have had to modify my routine due to my sudden outbreak of ‘broke foot disease’. I have hit my abs harder as well as upping the number of push-ups I do. The only body part can’t work is quads. Where there is a will, there is a way. And I WILL make away to my goal…. injury or not!!!
    3. AFFIRM – Reflect on this picture, How are you shaping you?
    My self esteem

    • Anthonia Anyanwu

Kudos on the self esteem improvement! More women, and our little girls today need help with self esteem. I know I’ve been there, and I got tired of it! lol It’s easier to believe in myself, and know I’m worthy, and just love on myself! It does take daily effort too. We all have to help each other! Thank you for sharing.

I agree! Life goes on with or without you! It’s up to you to live your life the way you want to live! Good luck on your journey! ^.~ And I hope you have a speedy recovery!

1.I juiced 6 days last week. I feel more energetic and that is awesome because I have a lot of running others around that I have to do, errands, and I get more things done in the house now. Don’t feel so lazy and sluggish. I did lose weight, and gain some (hopefully muscle). My sister and I do weekly weigh-ins every Sunday. My goal is to gain muscle, so I’ve been doing exercise videos that incorporate weights. I’m seeing strength in my arms, my stomach has abs slowly but surely coming through lol. I feel good about exercising! Here’s a simple recipe that my family has fallen in love with. I’m not so hung up on it but I’ll will share.

    Recipe

    1 banana
    handful of spinach
almondmilk (or whatever milk you prefer)

    2. I exercised 5 days out of the week. I do aim for 6 days since I know I can do six days out of the week. I’m stronger than the day I started. lol My sister and I looked kind of pitiful coming in the house, gasping for air on our first day jogging and powerwalking! Now we are faster in going around the neighborhood powerwalking, and jogging because we have more energy of course! Favorite activity is powerwalking! It’s easy to do, and you can add wrists and ankle weights for more sweat action, and muscle building, and body slimming lol.
    3. This picture screams to me to live one day at a time, and make each day your best! Value what you have, and improve on it if you see something you are not in love with. We have the power to manifest what we want to come about in our lives. I believe that I deserve a healthy mind, body, and spirit! I want this and I will continue to work for it. I shape me! God gives me the opportunity to be better each day when I wake up each morning, I just have to wake up and make something wonderful happen! I have to move in every aspect of my life. :)

    • yardie_chick

Congrats on your triumphs!! I wish I had a sister to work out with!

      • Anthonia Anyanwu

Thank you so much! I have three and if you ever need to borrow one of them she’s all yours lol! It is nice to have someone to exercise with.

    1. JUICE  - I juiced four days this week. Yes! I definitely see a change in my energy level! I’m not sure if it’s the smoothies or the vitamins though.

    2. MOVE - Yes! I did! And I was proud of myself because on day I was really tired bu I went to th gym anyway.

    3. AFFIRM – focusing more on my health than my size. Weight loss is just a bonus of healthy living!

    • Anthonia Anyanwu

Totally agree with you one focusing on health than size. It will take you further in life than the other!

    • yardie_chick

I love how you said it…”Weight loss is just a bonus of healthy living!!”

    1. JUICE -
I juiced 2-3 times last week. My skin is pretty clear!!! This is remarkable because I haven’t been washing my face like I used to. Blame it on grad school. I’m so so tired by the time I hit the bed.
I also drink Apple Cider Vinegar once a day!

OPTIONAL – I lost 2% of my body fat! I had dropped 3 pounds but my menstruation always leaves me with at least 2 extra pounds of water weight. SO as of last week I gained it back… >.> However, before nature’s gift I did notice my stomach getting smaller, ect. I am by no means discouraged and have already juiced for breakfast on Saturday and today. I even worked out for 90 minutes yesterday! I’m gonna do this!

OPTIONAL – I’m trying to challenge my palate. So today I had 1 1/2 cup of honey dew melon, 2 grapefruits, 1 orange, and 1 apple. It yielded about 20 oz of juice. Grapefruit was strong but it was a nice juice!

    2. MOVE – No I didn’t work out a lot again. I’m blaming nature’s gift this time though. I was in a catastrophic amount of pain for most of the week. Not to mention I had a shitload of work and obligations to adhere to for school… >.> But I have been walking and taking the stairs a lot when I’m out and about. My favorite activity is DDR! It’s like dancing!

    3. AFFIRM – I’m starting to realize I am worth it. So I’m going to put in more effort today to ensure a better tomorrow! I’m doing this because I want to. And I’m doing this for myself!

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

      You go girl!!

      • http://www.facebook.com/Kira0313 Shakira O’Garro

Thank you! I’m really trying this time! Lol

  • Tennisshoes

    I did a semi-checkin for week 4 under week 3′s checkin :-)
Making smoothies seems so common place at this point, I kind of lose track of how long I’ve actually been doing it!
My friend and I do a weekly weight check in every Monday. Since last Monday, I’ve lost 2 pounds.
Moving is still problematic b/c I’m sooo not motivated. But I still try to manage to get some walking in.
First thought about this week’s affirmation, ” PRINT THIS FOR YOUR MOTIVATION TO MOVE!” LOL

  • Tennisshoes

So you ever have those moments where a smoothie combination just SEEMS like it would be soooo good?! That’s how I felt about this moring’s spinach, peach, orange, almond milk, water smoothie. But ummmm…I’m not impressed. What can be used to jazz this up a little bit?

  • Tanya

I juiced everyday last week. I started adding beets and carrots to my smoothies. You would be surprised how sweet they can be.

I worked out 4 times last week. I wanted to do more but life got in the way.
I have the strength and power to day to get what I want tomorrow.
