Donna’s Fall Favorites

By Jenell — October 19, 2012

In the fall I like to have certain products for my hair because the weather is changing and I still want that moisturized look. I got to have coconut oil. It does not matter what type of coconut oil you use but I use, “Natures Way” coconut oil. I purchased it at a Wholes Foods Store in SC. Coconut oil seems to work with a lot of products that I use on a daily basis and it keeps my hair moisturized.

For example, I wash and condition my hair, and then I apply the coconut oil from the root of my hair to end of my hair (focusing more on the ends of my hair which tend to be the driest). I have tried Cantu Shea leave-in with this oil and they work well together. I had super shine! The style I tried with these two products was a twist out.

You can find coconut oil in your local drug stores, grocery stores, wholes foods stores, and online. The price ranges from $7.99-$12.99, depending on the size of the jar or container. I do recommend trying the Cantu Shea Leave-in which you can find in Walmart, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Walgreens, CVS, and many other department stores for $5.99. Take look at my hair with these two products in there. Say good-bye to dry hair!

More of my Fall’s Faves are the Giovanni Hydrating- Clarifying Shampoo & Smooth as Silk Conditioner and the Giovanni Direct leave-in. These products are the best, hands down.  One thing I love about Giovanni shampoo is that it is a clarifying one. It does not leave my hair feeling strip or matted together at all. It breaks down and removes old build up from products that I used during the week. I love the fact that it is in a pump bottle also because it is much easier to use in the shower. I love to save so the fact that it lathers up really well is a big thing to me. You will not have to use the whole bottle just to get your hair lathered up good because after two to three pumps you’re ready to wash your hair.

The conditioner is awesome as well. It can be used for dull and chemically treated hair. The best part is that it has vegetable protein in it to help seal my hair which keeps my hair from getting tangled up. I am able to detangle in the shower with my fingers up to a certain point. My hair is getting longer and I do prefer to use a comb.

First I shampoo my hair and believe it or not, one shampoo will do the job. Next, I rinse the shampoo out and apply my conditioner. While the conditioner is in my hair, I detangle which is so easy and then I proceed to rinse out. Lastly, I apply the direct leave-in conditioner and style as desire.

You can find these products at Walmart but I will say it is a bit pricey for the size you get. Here’s a tip: “Go to TJ Maxx and get the 33.8 fl oz shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in (33.6 fl oz) for $12.99 each”. This is going to save you money and time. I love to get my Giovanni products at TJ Maxx because it is cheaper and I have a lot of product to last me for some time. These products can be used on normal to dry hair. They all have vitamins, minerals, herbs, and oils in it. There is nothing harmful in these products and I think they are curly girl friendly.

Try it out and let me know what you guys think!
