Daily Moisturizer for Extensions & Natural Hair

Putting your hair into a protective style with extensions is a great way to add variety to your do.  The styling options are limitless and the low manipulation is great on your hair.

A lot of time is saved in the morning and at night because gone are the days of twisting and moisturizing but contrary to popular belief, when you put my hair up in extensions like micro braids, kinky twists, senegalese twists or whatever other form of extensions, it’s not an excuse to neglect your hair entirely. You get a break from daily styling (if you choose to), but you should still have a moisturizing regimen.

It doesn’t have to be extensive, and in fact it should consist of only one or two steps to keep in line with low manipulation.

In the video below I show you step by step how I make my daily moisturizer for extensions.  This moisturizer will have your hair soft and shiny!  It works great on loose natural hair as well!

Tools:

Spray Bottle

Warm Water, Coconut Jamaican Black Castor Oil, SheaMoisture Restorative Conditioner

What if I use bottled water? Would it last longer?

  • Angela

Would it make a difference if I boiled my water, would it last longer?

    • Ohema22

Hi!! I’m a pharmacy major and boiling it won’t make a difference. It’s the fact that it’s water without a preservative. Any product compounded with water has an expiration of 14 days.

what’s a type of oil i could use to grease my scalp that could also help with hair growth?

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell Stewart

      Jamaican black castor oil (JBCO).

I’ve always had a bottle of water and leave in conditioner so I think the oil also will give me what i’m looking for because my hair really loses shine QUICK!

Wat about aloe Vera juice mixed in instead of water and just spritz water on separately

Water is the base to mix everything together. So use water, aloe vera juice the leave in you like and oil.

I’m aiming to get a MicroBraid protective style next month–and I’ve got a plethora of oils sitting in my beauty closet (JBCO, coconut, grape seed, EVOO, argan oil treatment, and avocado). Question #1: Can I use any/all of these oils in my daily moisturizer? Question #2: Can I still give my hair a hot oil treatment, even though I’ll be getting a protective style?

    Thanks, Mz. Jenell!

Thanks for posting! I needed a definite regimen for my kinky twists. Basically I was using these ingredients but just separately and not sticking to a routine.
