By Jenell — July 13, 2012

Friday July 13, 2012 – Thursday July 19, 2012

If you didn’t join the challenge in the beginning I’m sorry, it’s too late.  We will have other growth challenges in the future. Keep an eye out for them. Subscribe to our general newsletter to keep informed.

Don’t forget that you can save 10% on all your jbco purchases from OilsFromJamaica when you use the code KCCM10.

Check In Questions:

1. Who are your natural hair crushes?

2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

My answers:

1. Hair Crush Celebs: Tracee Ellis Ross, Jill Scott, Elle Varner, Jill Scott
Hair Crush YouTubers: XGoldn, African Export, KimmayTube, SimplYounique, BorderHammer, Naptural85, Fusion of Cultures, and many more!

2. Yes, I really have been giving this my all. I love my hair and I really feel that putting in the time, energy, and diligence to take care of my hair has attributed to my growth.

3. Last week was GOOD!  I applied JBCO to my scalp, 4 nights. I finally took my twists out and styled my hair in a few different updos. I made sure to sprtiz my hair with water and rub on some coconut jbco before styling. At night I also rubbed the jbco on my edges.

Do you Tweet? If so use hashtag #KCCM so we all can follow the convo.  Feel free to include me  @BlakIzBeautyful

Keep encouraging each other, you all are doing soo well!

  • MahoganyDST

My hair crushes are: CharyJay, Napptural85, Kimmaytube, Teyana Taylor, Jenell (Yess I love love love your hair)

I have been doing really well with the challenge, but some days are better than others.  I usually will just oil my scalp at night and being in ps mode really helps because I don’t have to part my hair its already done!

I did follow through with my goals and I’m loving how much softer and moisturized my hair is feeling these days.

What? Im not on celebrity status(yet!) let me make a movie or something. Lol I’m honored.

    • Deshunboyd

Your edges look like they’ve thickened up. I wish I could see results in my hair.

  • Norkita White

  • michele liburd

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes? My daughter, sisters and nieces. Celebrity – Oprah Winfrey
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? Yes!
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did okay. I found it challenging to oil with the JBCO because my scalp has been itching really, really bad, especially the center.

  • missmoonsmusings

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
My hair crushes are Cree Summer and also actress Trini Alvarado (My nickname for my hair, Ms. Mooch, is named after one of her characters)
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
Much more so now that my hair is braided. I find that I’ve been applying the JBCO a lot more consistently.
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I’m learning the challenge is how much is too much on braided hair, and how much is too little, but I think that I’m learning not to be so heavy handed!! LOL :)

  • Tishana Trainor

    Hi, everyone! :)

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
Gosh, Soooooooooo many! Jamyla from Oyin (such a sweetheart, too), Tracee Ellis Ross, Elle of questfortheperfectcurl.com, Naptural85 (YT), my sister, and my 8 year old self… Yeah I said it. I had the bomb hair when I was 8.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
Yes, and it has paid off. Doing this challenge has helped me set up a routine, and I love that. Because of my hair routine, I have also set up a fitness routine, and a better work routine (I work from home)!

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did good, continuing with the Curl Junkie Hibiscus and Banana Leave-in, sealing with castor oil. I used the COTW pomade (castor oil based) to fluff out my hair in the mornings. And after cowashing, which I have to do more often since I’m working out, I do the same leave-in and sealer. My challenge this week was Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream. I used it over my leave-in, and it defined what I had, but made my hair feel hard. I’m gonna keep at it because I want to master the wash and go. I haven’t done my edges anymore because I don’t have edge issues, to me… Saturday is clay day… Thats it! I’ll start all over again! YAY!

1.) Hmmmm natural hair crushes. I have lot. Frankly, I’m just jealous of anyone that has longer hair than I do *sad face*. When I surf the net for tips and other stuff I’m convinced that my hair doesn’t know how to grow, and I get sad that I don’t have a real regiment.

2.) Am I putting my all into this? Probably not, there are days that my hair is wet so I don’t oil my scalp, because I heard that that is counter-intuitive. Also there are nights that I don’t feel like taking out my puff to apply it. I’m just lazy I guess. I really do need to work on that.

3.) I did pretty badly last week. I’m running out of castor oil and I literally have no kind of money to get more -__- hopefully next week will be better once I get some more.

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

Adding oils to your scalp and hair is best when your hair is wet.
This is fact. Not my own opinion but fact. :-)

      • Deshunboyd

When you apply your castor oil to your scalp at night, do you wet your hair with water everytime since it’s fact that it works better when your hair is wet?

        • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

          No. Not necessary.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did good. still sticking to my scalp massages 3x’s a wk & sealing my ends when I moisturize.  And tonight gonna treat “Queenie” to a hot oil treatment/overnight steam.

To be honest, I could have been better but I am improving daily, weekly…

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I’ve been meeting my goals. I think I need to surpass my goals now. My hair is still in extensions. Just started my 6th week. Want to take them out but it still looks so good. Might take it out just to see my hair. I miss my hair….

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Is my scalp supposed to itch? It happens when I use a shower cap… or get really hot it’s weird and usually after I put on castor oil.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
Some times I don’t but most of the times I do. Currently in Europe right now and I usually take my time sectioning, twisting, oiling scalp and ends but now I’m just always with the in laws, I seem to now really have any time since I’ve been here. All I do is section in big chunks moisturizing and oiling down the shaft and ends. So much faster.

I did great! No challenges whatsoever. :3

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I continue to meet my minimum goals, the only continuing challenge is i have thin fine hair that i usually wear flat ironed and hate that oiling look.

     Check In Questions:

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
    CharyJay, Napptural85, Kimmaytube

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

Yes I have. I want to make sure of it.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Yes, and no. I have been busy, but I realize that I need to wash my hair more, b/c I sweat a lot, so im making sure that i put my oils on then, and sometimes during the week.

  • Thianita Brown

    Check In Questions:
    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
Let’s see….Jill Scott, Solange Knowles, Yaya Dacosta, and Nikki Minaj (psyche! Just seein’ if you were paying attention ;-p).
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
Most weeks I have.  I haven’t been on the message boards as much as I’d like, and I’ve only applied castor oil more than 3x/week during one of the weeks. One week I thiiink I only made to .  However, I didn’t want this to FEEL like a “big deal”–the more natural the castor oil integration worked, then the more likely I am to continue the habit, so I tried to keep it psychologically low-key.
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did well last week–I did one deep condition and two edge-applications this week.  I probably should have applied one more time because my hair did seem to get kind of “thirsty”. OMG I have so many fuzzies in front though!!! I need to tame the fuzzies by incorporating them into some nearby locks. I suppose my hair that used to be much shorter in front is now growing much more quickly, so now I need to find it a home.  ACK! I should have taken a pic of the fuzzies at least lol.  I’ll try to remember.

     1. Who are your natural hair crushes?

I would say that I am new to this natural hair community, so my crushes are very limited. Jill Scott and my biggest crush is you Jenell…. thanks for showing me how much you can do with natural hair I am loving the journey

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

Yes I have been giving the challenge my all, I am seeing changes along my hair line and I also have a bold patch to the left side and it seems to be filling in. (This is how it looks to me, LOL)

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Followed through with my goals, applied oil nightly to scalp and edges and to my hair twice. So overall process good.

  • Deshunboyd

    1. Wow, natural hair crushes hmmm….definitely tracee ellis ross, taren916, xgoldn, naptural85, alicia james, simplyounique, and duh jenell lol.

    2. I have not been giving this challenge my all. mainly because this week has been a little hectic and I’ve been super tired. When I climb into bed after a hard day, my hair is the last thing on my mind.

    3. I’m struggling with protective styling. I’m not very creative with making up styles on my own, and when I try to create other looks from your tutorials or even other you tubers, it never comes out right. My hair is funny acting lol. Plus it’s not that thick it’s kinda fine, so in order to get maximum stretch I have to wait a week to get a full look. Other than that I’m trying to continue massaging the oil in my scalp and on my edges at least 3x a week and continue using it to seal my ends and pre poo when I feel necessary.

    1. HairCrush, African Export, Naptural85, BeautifulBrwnBabyDol, WhoisSugar, Summyr1988, Taren, Solange (I love her!), Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, my friend Siobhan…. There are more but I feel like this is enough to get the point lol

    2. Yes! I use my castor oil nearly daily! I use it on my scalp and hair, and edges! My hair loves it. I can’t really tel if it’s growing because I had to cut about 1/3 in of SSK all over my head at the ends :( . But hopefully by September, I’ll have some good growth! And I’m gonna do the Fall challenge as well :)
    3. I did pretty good for week 6… Maybe over did it (I have half a bottle left since the previous Friday O_o lol). But my hair loves the stuff!

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
Celebrities: Corinne Bailey Rae, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu
Youtubers: Naptural85, WhoisSugar, CharJay, Denimpixie, Alicia James, Jcokes, DUH JENELL YOU’RE ONE TOO!
    (I feel like there’s more but I can’t recall any… If I remember I’ll add! Lol)

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
I feel like I have! The only thing I’ve yet to do is a hot oil treatment. But I seal with it, oil my scalp, add it to conditioners, ect. I use it at least 3 times a week, and on good weeks I use it much more than 5.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Yep I did! And no challenges! I’m going to try the Rosemary JBCO on my scalp starting next week! And since I had to postpone my wash day, I’m going to do a hot oil treatment as a pre-poo with JBCO tomorrow! ^.~

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?

I don’t have any…but I do have someone on YT with similar hair that is an inspiration regarding hair growth (nalia1908)

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

No because it’s summer & the humidity has affected the way I do my hair. So I have not always used castor oil because it’s too thick & a humectant (using lighter oils)

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I didn’t use any castor oil at all. My challenge is the weather :)

  • Nell

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
My ultimare hair crushes are my youtubers– FusionofCultures and CharyJay. My celeb hair crushes are Yaya Dacosta and Solange (she’s myi nspriration!)

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
To be honest it depends on the week and how I’m feeling. I do try though and with this weekly check in I have to be accountable for some effort during the week so I think it’s working!

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Not bad. I applied castor oil to my scalp three times this week. I’m so ready to take out these braids and give my whole head some intense TLC castor oil style

At the beginning I was giving my all but I’ve been slacking lately. I definitely will be back on track by next week.

Again last week I was slacking. I only applied jbco 2-3x. I ran out 2 days ago and i haven’t had a chance to but a new bottle. I will definitely get a new bottle on my way to work tomorrow.

  • Doline

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
Corrine Bailey Rae, Esperanza Spalding, AliciaJamesMusic, CharyJay, you Jenell, and many others… Too many!
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
I have been doing the minimum, I could do more. I’ve wanted do more to check in more but the last few weeks have been busy with job interviews and now I’m in the process of moving so I keep missing the check ins! I’ll do better.
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Applied my coconut JBCO to my edges at night before bed. My primary goal has been to grown in my edges so I guess I’m on track with feeding them though I’d like more. Challenge has been making time to do more with my JBCO and making it to the check ins on time. I’ll usually get the newsletter and say I’ll do it later then Friday comes along. Ugh.
I did take a picture of my front length check for the 5th week but missed the check in. Below is the pic. Plus a pic of the tension blow out I did a couple of days ago. My fro surprised me!

  • shanta ferguson

    1. My hair crush would be Jill Scott, and Vannie Cambridge from the natural group on face book. I love her hair.

    2. I have been giving this my all because I want to see how long my hair will get within the three month challenge. Not to mention if this does work I will be using it on my daughters hair.

    3. Last week I did not do so great. I think I only used the oil once last week. I was so busy with my mom in town that I completely forgot. But I am back on it this week for sure.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? I believe so. It definitely gets trying at times because I get anxious easily wanting to see significant results right away. But I’ve found that switching and experimenting with styles is keeping me excited to do my hair. This past weekend I tried an avocado deep conditioner. The recipe called for olive oil but of course I switched that out for castor oil. My hair really felt noticeably softer after I rinsed it out. *Recipe* Half an avocado (I ended up using over half because I was heavy handed with the liquids.) 1/4 of castor oil, 1/4 aloe vera juice, 1/4 honey then blend until smooth. Everyone should try it!

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did great last week since I had a a protective updo in so oiling my scalp was a breeze.  As well I tried the new dc recipe that incorporated castor oil. As well I rocked a twist out at a family bbq. My hair is softer, and shinier, so I think I’m exceeding my goals.

    1. Hair Crush Celeb: YaYa Dacosta. Hair Crush YouTubers: SimplYounique, Naptural85, Fusion of Cultures, LoveIslandBeauty and of course you, Jenell!
    2. Yes, I really have been giving this my all. I’ve shared the fact that I’m doing a ‘castor oil challenge’ with friends and family, I’ve put off trimming my hair until this is over, I’m IN THIS!
    3. Last week was OK. It was a busy week with lots of travelling so I don’t feel I thought about my hair regime as much as I usually do. That aside, I still continued to rub JCBO on my edges daily. I oiled my scalp twice (not as much as usual) and also used it to seal in moisture as and when.

  • Feron

    1. My natural hair crushes are: Natural Chica (Mae), Naptural85, Lady T101, Kasherra LaTash, and Esparnaza Spalding.
    2. I have been giving this challenge my all. Every morning as part of my daily routine, I apply my leave in conditioner followed by oiling my scalp with my castor oil. Weekly, I add JBCO to my DC or hot oil treatment.
    3. I did great last week by not missing any days and adding JBCO to my DC.

  • anterria

1.My natural hair crushes are naturallycandi,101ladyt,urbanbushbabes, african export(all on youtube)
2.Yes i have been giving this challenge my all because i want to reap the benefits of castor oil!

1.Who are your natural hair crushes?

My crushes would have to include— Mahogany Curls (You tuber), Simplyunique (You tuber), Teyana Taylor (Actress/Artist)

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
HONEY YES! I am so dedicated! I am keeping myself on track as well as my friends– and I’ve been working on my Sister’s hair as well… I am loving the challenge and the results and have more recruits for the next challenge!

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far… No challenges and I did great… I actually decided to co-wash once every two weeks for a little while… Still using the JBCO like 4x’s a week and I apply it to my edges and ends nighty… I just received the lavender JBCO took me a few days to get use to the smell– Finally, I just mixed it with the regular castor oil and that lightened the smell up a bit…

    1. SimplYounique, Natural85, MahoganyCurls,Prettydimples01 and Taren916.
    2. Some weeks are better than others, but I am seeing results so I think I’m doing pretty good.

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes? Too many to name but for certain Naptural85, Fusion of Cultures and Taren916

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? Eh.  I think I can try a bit more. (Sad face)

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I’m still on track with my goals.  Applying to my edges (hairline) 3x a week.  I think I need to start applying it to my scalp as well. No challenges thus far… :)

    1. My natural hair crushes are Amel Larrieux, Tracee Ellis Ross, Corinne Bailey Rae, Naptural85, and Cipriana from Urban Bush Babes.
    2. I have given this challenge more effort than I would usually when it comes to my hair. I have become more aware of what my hair likes and doesn’t and through this challenge I can see how much my hair was suffering from frequent heat use. One of my new goals is to stop being dependent on heat styling and wear my hair in non-heat styles the majority of the time.

    3. I did well this last week. I applied castor oil to the length of my hair twice, and massaged my scalp with castor oil 3 x. So far so good!

      Those are great crushes!
Keep up the good work. Your hair will thank you.

  • http://twitter.com/HerNameisNic Nic Lucien

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
I don’t have any celeb hair crushes but I do have my holy grail of youtubers and bloggers….. Shelley from Hairscapades, Naptural 85, Curly Nikki, Mahogany Curls and you, Jenell at Kinky Curly Coily Me!
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? I haven’t been giving it my all ( I am not OD’ing) but I feel like I have gotten into a great routine. I have been stretching my wash and go’s for about 3-4 days. So I usually use castor oil to seal when I initially style, then I will reapply in between styles with nightly scalp massages and I apply on my edges almost everyday when styling in a banana clip for the day.
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did well last week. I finally figured out how to apply so that I don’t wake up with oily pillowcases. The one little challenge I am having is feeling like I applied enough during my scalp massages. Because it is so thick, I try to use only little drops. However, I am so used to feeling like I need to feel the grease in my hair that I find myself over pouring to compensate for this. LOL I am trying to remember that less is more as I continue to apply throughout the week.

Hope its going well for everyone!

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

      Haha. Yes, less is more!

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Nothing has changed and everything has remained consistent, including the nonexistent edges :-(

  • Shade

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?

Tracy Elis Ross and Jill Scott

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

Yes i have been giving it my all. I have stuck to my plan and i plan on staying on track all the way through.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

  • Tazzee

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes? Add me to the Traci Ellis Ross fan club. Most of my crushes are YTers and bloggers. My YT crush that has a texture similar to mine is MsVCharles. My other crushes (although their texture is totally different) would be you,Jenell and Monique over at Natural and Fabulous.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? Yes, it’s part of my daily/nightly ritual now. I was so accustomed to having twists in my hair and being able to apply the CO to my scalp with my fingers that when I started doing WnGs, I got a little lost. Then Jenell’s YT using the applicator bottle got me back on track. So every week I’ve met my goals, but most week I seek to exceed them.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Week 6 was great because I got my mini twists back. No challenges thus far.

My hair crushes are Janell Stewart, Charyjay *spelling, Toyabootresses.

Being that I just started the challenge x1 month- I have been very diligent in my routine- especially following Janell’s hair pampering routine after a wash.

Last week was awesome- I dyed my hair about a week prior to the challenge and I already see a 1/2 inch of growth at my roots (1/2 inch of dark black hair- my hair is red).

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

    1) My natural hair crushes are Jill Scott, Jenell Stewart (OF COURSE), Iknowlee (youtube), kimmaytube, and CharJay!! You all give me hope!!

    2) I really have been giving it my all!! I am a MASTER PROCRASTINATOR and usually would have fallen off by week 2, but I am so proud of myself. My hair being in the protective style actually makes it easier for me.

    3) This week was hectic, so I got all my scalp oiling in at the beginning of the week to make sure I wouldn’t forget! My challenges thus far are remembering just because I have my hair protected, it still needs moisture so I have to remember to spray it with water everyday.

  • Baileylsamantha

    3. Last week I used the castor oil almost everyday, which is over what my regimen was supposed to be, so I definitely followed through with my goals. There haven’t been too many challenges during this challenge, just patiently waiting for my nape area to catch up (almost there!).

So many hair crushes!!! Naptural85, Dominique Harris,BGLH; and the list goes on an on.

Taking care of natural hair is time consuming so adding this the refining wasn’t really a big deal. I have been pretty consistent the whole time. I’m on vacation an applied the oil 3x’s this week.

Why aren’t you giving the challenge your all?

  • j1830291

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
Jenell (You really have inspired me to love me and my hair. So for that you are STAR STATUS!), MyNaturalSistas’s, Naptrual85 and Tarin. I am aiming to be a natural hair crush within my church community!

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
No. I think that I have been applying the castor oil but not giving my hair the love that it needs. There is a difference. For the past few weeks this challenge has been routine instead of me loving and embracing my hair. This week was a reality check and I gave my hair the time that it needed.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Great! I had a personal reassessment and I can tell that my hair is reaping the benefits. I am making it an effort to apply castor oil to my edges everyday and to my scalp at least 3x a week. It’s already a staple in my hair washing regimen but since it’s summer I am trying not to was my hair as much.

  • mdnadmin

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
–too many! Mostly youtubers (guys and gals) because i love seeing the journey they go through to get to where they are. And i don’t mean just longer hair, some I feel like I have gone through it with them. Celebs are great, and gorgeous, but to me it really says a lot about a person who will bring you that much into their life, especially in a world where we are to believe that everything is supposed to always be perfect. The youtubers I watch do all kinds of things, flat ironing, updos, twists, perms, weaves, etc. I may not be doing what they do, but I love their spirits.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
–I would say yes, I have.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
—I think I did well, this week was a trip but since I’m so late in posting this, you all will hear more about that soon ;D

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?

I am not going to lie, you are one! You inspire me to keep going on my natural hair journey. Also Solange-she did it for her and didnt care what everyone else thought.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?

I have been keeping with the challenge. I use my oil mix every other day. The smell of the black castor oil can get overwhelming. I think I will switch to the gold one when I am done with black one. The gold castor oil’s smell was more pleasant and not so strong.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Last week was great. I washed with oil 2 times(I wash at the beginning and end of week. If not my hair is itching a lot.), and used in hair everyday in my oil mix. I like to put it on the mix at night and put a shower cap on for deep condition. My hair is always so soft in the morning too after that.

  • Karemel

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
My natural hair crushes are CharyJay, SimplYounique, and…you!  That last tutorial of an up-do had my mouth watering (creepy, I know. Sorry.)  Your hair was sooo shiny and has so much body.  Very pretty.
    2.  Have you been giving this challenge your all?
I can probably do better, but, I’ve surprised myself by really sticking to this.
    3.  How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did much better last week.  My hair was in twists, and I find it much easier to apply the castor oil to my scalp when it’s in twists as opposed to an Afro or an “out” style. My only challenge is consistency with using the castor oil.  I am enjoying being a part of this challenge.

  • http://www.facebook.com/ericanneal Erica Neal

I know I’m late but to me defense, it’s not even 10:30 in Mountain Time, lol. My work week has been crazy and haven’t had a chance before tonight to get on to do my check-in, so I hope this doesn’t disqualify me. But at the same time I will continue with this challenge because it is doing wonders for my hair!
    1. Who are your natural hair crushes? I love all who have big beautiful, full, long curls! I’ve seen so many pictures posted on Facebook and I love them all. I haven’t found that “one” that I’m absolutely envious of, but I can’t wait to have that super huge full fro full of curls.
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? For the most part I have been. Though I can say there was a hectic period where I had to travel unexpectedly and was extremely busy that I wasn’t able to stay on my regimen of moisturizing my scalp using my JBCC every other day like I had been. But I think since being home I was able to make a full come back!
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I have been following with my routine/goals this past week. I was able to get my wash in with my deep conditioning with my shea moisture/JBCC mix and then oiling me scalp with it every other day as well. I will continue with this regimen until the end of the challenge and beyond! I will be posting my 5 week growth check picture that I was unable to post at that time.

I cant say that I give this challenge a 100% with heat and work, I my hair has seen better days
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)
I did a honey treatment using castor oil instead of EVOO ( that was a mess) so i just used the oil to seal my hair after co-washing.

  • http://www.occasionsbyL.com/ Lenerasimagination

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes?
I don’t have a crush on any natural hair person because every natural is different and textures are different. My curl pattern is 4C and a twist out gives my hair great curl definition. As for lengtg crushes, I just wish to have or to achieve the big puff like some 1 and 2 year veterans.

    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all?
I have. I’ve failed to checkin on time simply because i forget. When I first started this challenge idid my weekly wash regimen on Wed and I would always checkin afterwards. Since the first couple of weeks ive waited another day or three to wash my hair because the castor oil has done wonders for my hair.

    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Last week like every week thus far I achieve my goals and use it more and more througout the week.

  • KLeeBaby

    1. Who are your natural hair crushes? I don’t have one. I just LOVE when I see beautiful natural hair. I do want to know they’re hair regimen and the products they use.
    2. Have you been giving this challenge your all? To be honest, no. However, I have been about 90% successful with following through with putting CO on my scalp, hair and edges. I am even doing my son’s edges. I pledge to continue after the challenge is over because I’ve seen a HUGE difference.
    3. How did you do last week (week 6)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I was able to follow through with my CO according to my schedule, but more towards the end of the week. I

  • Victoria Hunt

    1. My hair crush is Elle Varner. I love everything about her hair and hopefully one day I can have that same fullness.
    2. I was in the beginning and now that my hair is much thicker I notice I began to slack off.
    3. Last week was a struggle but this next week I’m getting back into my routine.
