Castor Oil Challenge Week 6 Check In

By Jenell — July 06, 2012

Friday July 6, 2012 – Thursday July 12, 2012

If you didn’t join the challenge in the beginning I’m sorry, it’s too late.  We will have other growth challenges in the future. Keep an eye out for them. Subscribe to our general newsletter to keep informed.

Last week was length check week!  Most of you who are wearing your hair loose are seeing great results!  Those of you who haven’t noticed results, we have 2 more months to see improvement. Use the next two months to focus more on your use of castor oil.

Don’t forget that you can save 10% on all your jbco purchases from OilsFromJamaica when you use the code KCCM10.

Rocking My Twists!Check In Questions:

1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

My answers:

1. I am “so over” having to retwist every night to have a well manicured look every day.  I am “so over” the humidity frizzing out my twist outs! I am “so over” the hour long detangling sessions. I am “so over” the headaches from rocking a puff.

2. I still have my hair in mini twists and I haven’t washed my hair since the day before I went to Dallas (#don’tjudgeme).  I have been moisturizing my hair every 2 days with the Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Thickening Milk, then my coconut JBCO, followed by the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.  My hair is very soft and shiny.

Do you Tweet? If so use hashtag #KCCM so we all can follow the convo.  Feel free to include me  @BlakIzBeautyful

Keep encouraging eachother, you all are doing soo well!

Ack I don’t want to be firssssttt haha

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I’m so over having to PT my hair before and after bleaching just to make sure my strands are in good order. My hair is so fine, but I love being blonde. Sue me!  (I should probably get it done in a salon… but who has the money and time. And I’m afraid of Black Hair Salons… ever since I’ve been natural I’ve avoided them). Anyone know any good salons in the NYC/Jersey area? (I’m trying to get my roots to match my tips… pic attached below)2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Now that my hair is out of my braids, I’ve gotta take better care of it haha. Gave myself a trim yesterday. Trying to figure out a way to incorporate lemon juice into my regimen. I’m trying to lighten my hair again… The struggle of being an Organic, Minimalist Napptural~

    • MahoganyDST

You mentioned that you were trying to get your tips to match ya roots, are your roots brighter and what kind of bleach are you using? I can’t really tell from ya pic.

      • Tomi-chan

I’m trying to get my roots to match my tips– I used the Revlon highlighting kit for dark hair. The tips of my hair are blonde and light brown.

    • Stephanie

       Hey fellow naturalista!

There’s a black owned natural salon in Brooklyn http://www.khamitkinks.com/
They’re located downtown Brooklyn Atlantic Avenue.

http://bohemiansoul.com They’re also located in Brooklyn, Pacific Street.

http://deluxgallery.com/ Located in Brooklyn, Fulton Street.

http://www.victoriajnaturalhairsalon.net/index.html Also in Brooklyn, Hoyt Street.

Look up these natural hair salons on Yelp and read the reviews. It helps a lot!

      • Tomi-chan

        Ooh thanks a lot :D

    • NATURAL BEAUTI QUEEN

What does the lemon juice do to your hair I have been using hair lightner and semi permanent hair color. I recently use henna but of course it only tints and did nothing for my roots. Im trying to find a way to color without having to use so much chemicals since the chemicals was my reason for going natural.

      • Tomi-chan

Lemon Juice, Chamomile, and Olive Oil/Honey all have lightening qualities. With a combination of this mixture you can lift your hair color as much as three shades. I like it as an alternative to bleaching. Especially in the summer. All I have to do is sit in the sun!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nadia-Davis/712386578 Nadia Davis

I applaud your courage, I have color under the sink now and I’m scared to use it!! My gray is killing me though!!

      • Tomi-chan

Why thank you!! If you’re just trying to cover gray– a demi or semi or a coating color will do just fine! No damage whatsoever, I can assure you. And if it’s a rinse there’s no problem at all :)

    • NaturalBrown Beauties

You can also try the Ohmm Red Room Luxe Hair Slaon and Store. 503 Atlantic Ave, Bklyn NY 11217. The owner name is Debra. She is a great listener, friendly, and has been in the hair industry for years. The salon is really nice and the prices are not too bad depending on what you will get. #718-858-6644.

Also try SOL BKNY! This salon is a lot of fun! The ladies are really nice, have great conversations, and do a fab job on hair. http://www.solbkny.com

      ALL the Best!

      • Tomi-chan

        omg thank you so much!!!!

     Check In Questions:
    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
As of now, no. lol. I think I’m okay since I have a protective style in. And since Ive been natural I have done several protective styles, but didn’t really know how to maintain them. Now since Ive done more research, and am participating in this challenge I notice that my hair is more maintained, I took one braid out today and noticed that my hair is smoother, not so tangly, and that I have growth. So I don’t have anything to complain about:)

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I think I slipped up a little not putting it on every other day, or on my edges everyday. However I make sure I do it after a wash, and when I remember, I did it today as well. So other than that I think I am doing fine:)

  • Venita

Jenell I have to agree with you on your answers I’m so over retwisting my hair every night and having my twist out frzzing but I don’t have headaches when wearing a puff my band has been strengthed out enough to where it doesn’t hurt any more!! I didn’t do well with massaging my scalp but I did apply castor to my edges daily!!

    • Tazzee

I’ll be so glad when I know longer get puff headaches.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Kira0313 Shakira O’Garro

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I’m so over detangling, SSKs, shedding, feeling the need to wear my hair curly (ie: twist outs and wash n gos), and buying hair products. I’m sick of detangling mid week or while doing twists inorder to get the desired look. The SSKs have decreased but they aren’t completely gone… I’m so concerned with thickness and length that when I manipulate my hair and shed, I freak out! I’m tired of it… I want my hair to be longer and stronger but I keep getting thrown off by the shedding… I hate twisting… but wearing an afro makes detangling a nightmare… I miss my TWA afro days sometimes… And the PJism… I’ve spent so much money on hair products… I’m trying to get better but it is an uphill battle. Lol

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I didn’t oil my scalp as much as I wanted. And I think I only used it 3 times. I just can’t get jiggy with JBCO straight up! I still mix jojoba oil and grapeseed (I just add less so it’s thicker). I’m going to buy the rosemary JBCO when I get paid. I’m also thinking about hot oil treating my hair with JBCO soon as well.

    • Tazzee

What are SSKs? LOL at your response to #1 – I used to freak out about my shedding too, until my hubby told me that my hair sheds much less than it did when I was relaxed. So I started gathering all my strands after a wash (like I used to do when it was relaxed) and he was right! Then I read somewhere that healthy hair sheds approximately 100 strands a day. I realized that when I washed my hair after a week of twists, there was more but during my most recent span of daily wash n gos there wasn’t as much shedding.

I also mix my JCBO with a lighter oil – especially during these summer months. During the last challenge, I used it straight.

      • http://www.facebook.com/Kira0313 Shakira O’Garro

SSKs are Single Strand Knots! You know when your hair doubles back on itself and it forms a knot. And about the shedding… I collect the shed hairs and roll them into a ball. It sorta calms me down! Lol o.0 Thanks for the comment though! When I was using chemicals my hair was coming out in clumps!  So I’ll definitely take this shedding over that one. Lol

  • Koilykita

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
-I am so over the TWA, I am so looking forward to being out of that stage. I am so over waking up in the morning and my hair is smashed to my hair. I am so over having the frizzies!!! But with all that being said, I will NEVER return to the creamy crack!!!!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
-I did great last week, I followed through will all of my goals of using my JBCO daily, and no challenges!!!

HAVE A GREAT KOILY WEEK EVERYONE!!!!

    • Tazzee

YAY to no creamy crack! It’s funny, you’re over the TWA and I kind of miss mine. I think it’s the weather.

  • MahoganyDST

I’m so over the detangling session after wearing a puff, I’m so over not being able to wear a nice wng, I’m so over pineappling every night to get my styles to last, I’m so over the humidity making my TO’s look like a curly fro by the end of the day.

Last week I did ok considering I didn’t have a protective style the entire week! I forget that I use castor oil in my DC and leave in so that counts lol. Guess I haven’t been doing as bad as I thought.

  • Stephanie

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?i
*Jeopardy music starts to play in my head*
Hmm, I think I am so over the shrinkage when doing a wash n go. :

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great. In the last few weeks Ive had issues of ridiculously itchy scalp. Thank goodness coconut oil was my cure. No more itchies y’all!

  • Kim Gaither

    1. I am so over having to do the same hairstyles.(twa, mini puff).
    2. I am still on the same regimen JBCO daily wash 3 to 4 times, deep condition once a week. No challenges ;-)

  • http://twitter.com/ThatDivaJ J.A.S

We all love being natural, but I am so over the product junkie accessories feel like I want to try everything and then I feel so freakin guilty when I try something new one week, love it and dismiss the product I loved the week before…and now I have oobles of unused and semi used products and accessories.

I did well last week….but I forgot to Check In (is it too late?) Iwho washed three times this week, just because of the heat and humidity, and sweat….my hair felt yucky….washing it helps with keeping the moisture intact. I did try a new style in which I twisted my hair to do a twist out that fell like a bob…I loved the style but with the heat and humid NJ weather it caused my JCBO to roll unto my forehead, this combo caused me to have a pimple or two show up on my dome…. I didn’t like it! So this week my strands are twisted back up in mini twists…

    • Tazzee

I just bought a new product yesterday. After I got home and put it in my cabinet, I realized that I was about to dismiss another product… BUT, I needed something new for these hotter temps. That’s my justification, LOL.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JRU5WCMZ5X7VFDF3Y3H6P4NJSY Mango

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I’m so over the long washing sessions, this rough transitioning period of working with the two textures, and my edges not staying down in this heat… it just curls right back up no matter how much gel i apply or how long i tie it down.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did ok this past week… i did forget to use the oil on my edges a few times. No challenges except i’m not yet seeing much progress.  I’ll have to take another pic today as i’m getting tree braids tomorrow and these will be in for quite a while.

    • Tazzee

Mango, I applaud you for transitioning. I managed a little less than 4 months before I got braids. I kept them for 5 months before chopping. I initially planned to transition for 2 years… yeah, I lasted 9 months. Hang in there because it’s worth it.

  • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

    Happy Friday everybody! :D

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?  I can say I’m “so over” the need to try each & every product that comes out. Now don’t get me wrong; I’m still a product junkie in recovery so I do treat myself sometimes but overall I’ve come A LONG way. Small businesses have a special place in my heart so I try to support when I can. Well that’s my story so I’m sticking to it. LOL  Ohhhh, and I’m also “so over” having the perfect curls from a twist out.  I’m finding I actually like ”Queenie” when she has a twist out that’s a couple days old, slightly frizzy, and my curls have an attitude of their own. ;)

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I’m still hanging tough.  No challenges here. :)  And to make it easier to oil my scalp I’ve put my castor oil into an old roll on I have.  It’s worked wonderfully because I tend to be heavy handed so doing it this way helps me & doesn’t over do it on my scalp.  And I’m also still using it to seal my moisture.  I’m so loving the shine & softness of my kinks. :D

P.S.  I LOVE that dress BlakIzBeautyful!

    • Tazzee

I love your hair! My PJism comes from blogs and YT with product reviews. It doesn’t matter that the reviewer has a different texture, LOL. The good thing is, my frugal spirit overcomes my PJism, so I’m always entering contests to win stuff.

      • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

Thank you Tazzee! I love yours too! :D And yes I must I say I have given into to my PJism through youtube too! LOL

  • IamboredSinger

    1. I am so over my hair not retaining moisture for more than a day without me having to remoisturize. I am so over the constant manipulation like detangling 3 or more times in 2 days. I am so over shrinkage especially.

    2. I did good this week and I followed through with all my goals; my hair is very strong.

    • Onyinyedike

OMG! these are the same things I am ‘so over’.

  • leibas01

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? It’s all good, I don’t have any issues. I used to hate that my hair would skrink but hey whatever.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I’m using Castor oil everyday all day. I’m also using Glycerin in my spritz. My hair loves it all. I’m pretty happy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/MissArielNicole Ariel Jones

Sooo i totally forgot to do a check-in last week, I’ve been super busy with my summer job.
1.) I am so over experimenting. Well sometimes. I want to try new things, but i get incredibly frustrated when my hair does not work out the way that i want it to. Twist-outs take so long to do, and they always seem to look terrible. I wish I knew what my hair liked. Maybe it just doesn’t like twist-outs and it’s time to get over that.
2.) well besides forgetting to checking in, I’ve done very well for the past several days. I’m trying to develop better habits while I’m at camp, because they say it takes only 28 days to form a habit. I’ve seen GREAT growth. Like an inch in 3 weeks, which I think is unheard of! I’m excited to straighten my hair to see how it’s really doing. I can’t really tell when its curly… Even though i think I can see that my fro is getting slightly bigger.
My ends are also looking a lot less frayed. I don’t know what to attribute this too, because it’s not like I do PS’s.

    • Thianita Brown

Oh wow you are so organized with your pics!  *bows*

  • ELA

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
Ummm I’m over the fact that my hair is in a TWA… It’s short but will grow. I getting over people asking, “Why did you cut your beautiful long hair?”. I’m getting over using a comb frequently.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Last week was ok.  I have braids in so although I have been focusing on my edges, the rest of my scalp has not been getting the attention that it needs. I did wash my hair this week and DC with castor oil. :)

  • Richelle Thomas

    1. I am “so over” the detangling sessions!! ugh. I feel like my hair is so finicky. You mess up one step in the ever elusive perfect regime and *bam!* hair is pissed off. I am “so over” the fact that even after searching for the perfect regime for so long I *may* be able to do better by testing out new products/mixes

    2. This week went really well actually. I put my hair in big flat twists so I could easily access my scalp and it worked out :-)

    • Tazzee

LOL at hair getting pissed off. Yes, our hair seems to have a personality of its own.

  • Donna

Six weeks in, I took a pic and the hair formerly at my bottom lip is now at my chin yay!

  • NATURAL BEAUTI QUEEN

    1. I am so over fairy knots or any kind of knots. I am over long hours of twisting before bed. I am so over my uneven color tone but I love my color. Is there a way I can evenly color my hair without using box color, ugh. Using hair lightener has its challenges but if I can get my color to be even I would enjoy my hair even more.

I did great for week 5, my twist out has survive 5 days. I will be washing my hair today after almost 2 weeks but I don’ t know whay to do with it.

  • Thianita Brown

    Check In Questions:
    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I’ll be honest, now that my locs are far beyond their “teenage stage,” there’s really nothing about being natural that I’m “so over.”  I think I figured out why, though.  One of the reasons I decided to get locs (besides the fact that relatives and friends looked ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS with them) is because I didn’t want to have to deal with all the twisting, platting, primping, blah blah blah. I needed a practical style that would pretty much take care of itself for my particular lifestyle.  Locs have achieved that perfectly.  I get up, take off my wrap, and GO. If I want waves, I can braid them or do a knot-out and my hair looks AWESOME.  If I don’t, I just let them hang and my hair STILL LOOKS AWESOME, lol.  It’s absolutely no-drama.  Now if I wasn’t locked up, and had more work to do…I bet I’d be complaining!  But at this point, no.  My locs are just getting to the long-ish stage where I realize there’s so many exciting things I can do, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I was kind of bad.  I think I only treated my hair with the JBCO 2x this week.  For some reason, Friday just came so fast!!! Also, I didn’t go out as much this week as I did last week, so I think I just wasn’t as beauty-conscious, lol.  Wednesday I gave my hair lots of lovin’ though, and I found a teeny tiny spray bottle for my JBCO/Tea tree/olive mixture that works great.
HOWEVER, I have my first real challenge going–MY. ROOTS. ARE. FUZZY!!!!! FUZZYFUZZYFUZZYFUZZYFUZZY OMG they are so fuzzy. I have to re-twist my roots so quickly or else it’s like Fozzie bear up in there!  Before, I’ve been able to go ENTIRE WEEKS without re-twisting my dreads. “Not no mo’!!!” Ack!  I forgot to take a picture of it.  I’m not sure if it’s just that I’m getting more edge growth and it’s coming back quicker than it was before, or what.  I just have to be a little more diligent, is all. Otherwise, things are great. No scalp issues this week :-D

    • Tazzee

LOL @ Fozzie bear – you took it back.

I’m jealous of your low maintenance loss, but I know they required discipline and dedication to get them to this point. Discipline and dedication that I do not have – so I’ll keep complaining about my maintenance, LOL.

  • http://twitter.com/lexluxxe Ms. Ocean

I’m just over having to have my hair be a certain way and seeking validation. When I first went natural, of course I wanted my hair to be instantly long, curly and flowing. But I quickly learned that I couldn’t hold onto that mindset. After the initial stages and trying to wrestle my hair into a certain mold, I stopped and just appreciated my hair for what it is. After that, I really “listened” to my hair (I know that tip is repetitive but its true!). Though I admire others and their hair, I love my hair like no other and strive to take care of it as well. Once I got over that hump, I’d say my hair has thrived and I now finally have peace of mind.

Earlier this week I put my hair into a protective up do. The sides and back are twisted and the top is left out to be twisted and let out as I please. So this makes applying castor oil too easy. I make sure to give my head a good rub down every other day.

    • Tazzee

      I love your hair love.

  • Tperson48

    1. I am so over not having a style besides twist out and wash and go. I don’t know how to do cornrows so I am limited.

    2. Last week great. I started mixing my castor oil with coconut oil and I like that better.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=500590544 NaturallyDivine NaturalDiva

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I’m so over detangling. I know it is a necessary step in my hair care regimen but I still hate it with a passion.  It makes being gentle and patient very hard because I get frustrated after a while. I’m also over those little knots! UUUGH! I hate em!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did very well. I have my hair tucked away. It is rubber banded down and I have been wearing wigs but I am still oiling my scalp every day with the castor oil and oiling and massaging my edges 2x a day with the JBCO. :-)

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
~We all love being natural but i am “so over” the shrinkage, so over my twist-out looking good when i first do it but by the time i get to work it looks nothing like it :-/. so so over trying this products and they still don’t work!!! but no matter what, i have not one single desire in my whole body of going back to a perm.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
~think i did fairly good, after taking my sew-in down and lettingmy natural chill out for about 2 to 3 days i have put in another protective style of crotchet braids and have been applying the CO to my scalp in between the braids as well as continually applying the CO to my edges daily!!!

  • michele liburd

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? Yes, I am so over my hair shedding.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did great. I moisturized my scalp with coconut jbco 4x, co-washed and sealed with jbco and finished off with sm curl smoothie. I also added jbco to my sm yucca growth milk and applied as a leave-in conditioner. Yes, my scalp is still itching from the jbco, very tender.

my hair hair grown alot! i love the results. ive been taking care of my hair like its part of my religion<3! only challenge is my damn ends. i hate them

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nadia-Davis/712386578 Nadia Davis

1.) LMBO!! I thought I was the only one with the humidity issue and the twist out, all that time and NOTHING!! I am SO OVER THAT!! I’m so over stressing over not having the length that I want just yet, I am learning to embrace every length along my journey.

    2. I did great last week, my hair is in a protective corn roll style so oiling my scalp with the castor oil was a LOT easier!! I even added an extra day to my usual 3!! (YAY ME!!) I just have to make sure my next protective style goes in the opposite direction to even out the stress on my hair.

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I have been natural for seven years, well I had locs and now learning what my hair likes and dislikes. So for now nothing that I am so over yet.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did well, followed through with my goals, no challenges. I am notice that my edges are looking better and healthier. I have a bold spot and it is looking better to me (keeping my fingers crossed). Have not notice any real change to my hair itself in terms of thickens, still have plenty of time in the challenge so hoping if I continue to achieve my goals week by week there should be change.

    Good luck everyone…

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I am OVER re twisting at night and single strand knots. Let’s eliminate these from the equation.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

*lowers head* I am sooo ashamed of myself. I used it three nights and one morning, which is WAY below my goals. However, I braided my hair and my hair has been feeling fabulous and didn’t want to disturb the style.  I will do better this week for sure *fingers crossed*

    • Tazzee

Ahh – SSK = single strand knots!!! I knew if I kept reading I’d figure it out.

  • Feron Floyd

    1. I love being natural but the one thing I’m over is humidity and shrinkage. I love how my hair looks first thing in the morning but hate how it either fro’s up from the humidity or shrinks up really short to almost twa length. Also, just the time it takes on wash day from start to finish is a very long process but I am loving the results from having a steady regimen.

    2. I’ve had no problems with using the castor oil as I planned to use it. I now alternate between my JBCO and my regular cold presseed castor oil to oil my scalp during the week.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I’m really over being a product junky!! I’m becoming such a miser in my old age, I no longer wish to jump on any product bandwagon. That being said… I’d still love to get me some Curlformers!! LOL
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did very well. Applied the oil to my scalp twice last week. So far, my braids have no irritated my scalp and everything looks good and healthy! :)

    • Tishana Trainor

      Love your braids!

      • missmoonsmusings

        Thanks, hon! ;)

    • ECU-Diva

Hey Missmoonsusings!! I am going to be getting Senegalese twist at the end at the beginning of August and I am wondering how did you prepare your hair and scalp for the braids. This is gonna sound crazy, but if you don’t know, you don’t know. Did you have to blowdry your hair out before you got the braids. How often are you washing your hair and how are you keeping your hair moisturized?

      • missmoonsmusings

Shameless plug, but feel free to check out my blog post on how I prepped my hair for the braids:
        http://missmoonsmusings.blogspot.com/2012/07/d-i-y-nappturaliciously-ms-mooch-takes.html

I wash my hair once a month regularly (even when not braided up), so I intend to keep with that tradition now that I have the braids. Not many people like that method, so if you are one of them, you can wash your hair when needed, though I would recommend waiting a couple of weeks after putting in the twists.

        Hope this is helpful! :)

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I’m so over aggressive power to the people naturals… I mean its not that serious… Are you seriously out there virtually going ham on people who choose to use relaxers? or naturals who choose to wear a weave or wig? Back up! mind your own business, stay in your lane and let people live their lives as they choose too!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did good– decided to not was my hair, so i’m stretching it to two weeks… Use my castor oil as agreed, no deviations on that!

    • Tazzee

I think those type of naturals kept me from going natural earlier. It was like I wanted to, but I wanted to annoy them even more (shame on me). I’m on twitter and whenever I would see the natural nazis going in, I would tweet about how much I loved the creamy crack, LOL.

    • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

I’ve never understood that either.  lol @ the power to the people naturals.

  • april

Since i am a fairly new natural, I haven’t grown tired of it yet.
Last week i missed a day but i will have to double up today to make up for it.
Overall, i’m excited to see the results.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I have to say, not really. There are some days when I don’t feel like dealing with my hair at all, but I do it anyway. It can be a bit much to go from someone who went to the hairdresser weekly to the sole person responsible for the care of your hair.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did well my goal was to use the oil 3 times a week and I did. My hair was out all last week so it was easy.

  • NaturalBrown Beauties

    1) I’m so over twisting my hair every night so my hair can be soft and defined for the next day. Some nights I am so tired and lazy to even bother with it :-/ I love washing my hair but I’m also over having to part my hair in sections. It takes too long and it shouldn’t. But I realize if I don’t, I miss out on giving my hair its full attention.

    2) I did fairly well on my hair goals. Some nights I was lazy but I still managed to do it. I started to notice some flaking. Never had that happened before. However, I will be washing my hair today since I have not washed it in two weeks.

Enjoy the rest of the challenge ladies and don’t give up!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=26103852 Angel Crews

    1. I’m over taking three hours to pre poo, wash, condish, detangle, DC, and then style lmao!!! I usually cut out either the pre poo or the DC every other time so I’m not taking forever!!
    2. I actually struggled a bit last week it was a little hectic with the holiday in the middle of the week and me deciding to spend the holiday with my boo in BK and didn’t think to bring ANY of my hair care products(although I have some basics already over there lmao!!) but I still accomplished my four day minimum. I also missed the length check in :-( but it would’ve been no difference more than likely because I got my ends(heat damaged) cut AFTER I started the challenge but hopefully within the next two months I’ll see more growth than before the haircut lol.

  • Amber Plummer

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I am so over the amount of time spent on my hair. All the countless hours spent making sure my hair doesn’t dry out!!
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I slipped this week as far as moisturizing due to I wore a wash n go for most of the week and didn’t want to disturb my curls!!

  • http://twitter.com/humbly4real Stanethia Miller

    1. I am so over having to figure out ways to tame my hair and combat dryness. I am so over being a product junkie.

    2. The challenge is going smoothly so far… No complaints. I just need to pick up some castor oil again asap.

  • Billie-Jane

I am so over having to plan ahead with my hair to ensure I get what I want the next day. Humidity is definitely a challenge!! You leave your house with your hair one way, you come home with it completely different!

Last week was also good. Stuck to my 5 x a week, applied to my edges regularly, scalp, and my ends. My hair does feel soft!

  • http://twitter.com/IamNads Nadine Stewart

    1. I am so over all of the effort it takes – the twisting, untwisting, retwisting, the knots and the shedding that result from all of twisting. I am so over all of the worry of pulling too hard on my hairline. I am so over the challenge of trying to think of protective styles that I can do myself (I can’t cornrow or flat twist), that also look cute. Overall I am enjoying this natural hair journey but wow, it’s definitely not easy!
    2. Week 5 was good. I got it cornrowed after last wash day, so it’s been tucked away for the week but I’m still massaging JCBO onto my edges daily, moisturising and then sealing the rest with JCBO. No challenges, it’s all good in the hood.

  • katoasha

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I too am over the re twisting but most of all the constant regimen, every week I think I spend more time thinking of my hair (sometime)!!!
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did good, I am following through with my plans just great

  • Maali Maikori

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? Just the shrinkage, nothing more when my hair is not in a protective style. Will take braids down this week though so, will see if I notice any changes.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Did fairly good, although I didn’t get to check in. Also sometimes I feel so lazy and don’t feel like oiling my scalp, but will myself to doing it anyway.

  • Baileylsamantha

    1. I love being natural but there are a few things I am “so over” lol! I am so over having to rebraid at night if I want my hair to look polished the next day. I am so over wearing the same styles because I have tried other things (i.e. twistouts smh! I tried it again today because I don’t understand how I can do a great braid out but my twistouts never turn out like I like it). I am also over the puff and the mild headaches, which I wear my hair like that for about two days each week because I get lazy and don’t rebraid.

    2. I did good this past week. I used the castor oil almost daily and my hair loves it!!

  • JuliaJohnson2011

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
Not really, except I hate how easily dry my ends get. but ever since I started doing protective styling that problem hasn’t been that bad. I love being natural
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great. I decided to put my hair in a protective style and oil my scalp. as you can see in my picture my roots are ALREADY growing out and I dyed my hair for the first time JUST a month ago.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=8339048 Jennifer Westbrooks

    1. I’m “so over” tiny knots that I have to cut out, detangling, my hair reverting in front of strangers because of this freaking Texas humidity, and spending hours twisting my hair. I have many more complaints but even on my worst day as a natural I will never go back to a relaxer. As I type this we are treating a woman in the ER who got relaxer in her eye, and the burning won’t stop, hopefully she won’t have permanent damage. Just say no to the creamy crack!

    2. I did great this past week. I oiled my scalp 5 days and although it took weeks for my scalp to adjust to the castor oil I can now say I’m “Dandruff Free” WHOOP! I still wash/co-wash my hair once a week but now it’s to clear up the oil buildup and not to wash out flacks. For those who have an irritable scalp using castor oil might irritate it more for a while but as you continue using it your scalp will adjust to it. It took my scalp 3-4 weeks before I could tolerate it but now it’s smooth sailing!

    • Tazzee

Oh no, relaxer in her eye! I know that must be painful. Yeah, I won’t be going back to the relaxer.

  • Tazzee

    1. I am so over the detangling! I shouldn’t complain about this because I just recently reached the stage when it’s been a problem but my last detangling session took quite a while. I’m also over not having a quick style when I work out. If I don’t wear mini twists, I can’t workout in the morning and just go. I sweat in my head so much, all other styles don’t last through the workout. Finally, I’m so over the fact that it takes me forever to do my twists. My stylists takes 1 hour – I take at least 3.

    2. I did well last week. I had another week of daily wash and gos so I was using the application bottle for my scalp application daily. Prior to getting the applicator bottle, my challenge was scalp application when I didn’t have my hair in twists.

I didn’t get a chance to post my length check pic last week because I normally post from my iPhone or iPad. Since I’m on a computer, I thought I’d go ahead and share – I was pleasantly surprised.

    • Tazzee

ooh, I forgot to mention my 2 textures. It is so frustrating to have tighter curls in the back and loose curls in the front. I always have to wear a band when I wash and go because the front is almost bone straight… See, reading these other posts are reminding me of more ‘so overs’ LOL

      • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

I know right! different textures can be frustrating! I have nice zig zag curls that pop easily in the back, coils in the front, no curls or zig zags at all on my sides; just tightly coiled, & completely loose pattern through my crown.  My husband asked me if I still had heat damage. O_o really sir? NO! just good ole’ genetics. LOL

  • http://twitter.com/Takesha1 Curly Chocolate

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

This humidity !! I have been only able to wear a wash & go which is not so bad but I like twist outs toos. I’m over henna because I keep getting orange glow roots lol. I’m going back to my rinses. I’m over people policing others on what they should/should not do with their hair. If want to not comb your hair, use rogaine, wear wigs, color 1/2 your hair purple & the other 1/2 green, etc DO YOU !!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did ok last week–no challenges

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1639362303 Monique Grannum

“So over” shrinkage, retwisting daily, all the different products, time required to maintain in general, fairy knots…..

I stock with my regimen of applying the oil daily to me and my daughters hair. I added the red pimento oil to the mix. Does the JBCO have the same affect if you mix it with other oils? Would you experience growth at the same rate? I ask because since I am using it on 3 heads, it is finishing quickly and I would like a way to stretch it out!

  • http://www.facebook.com/sirabe76 Sha Springfield

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I am so over detangling. It just seems to take so long to do.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did ok this week. I am still spritzing my hair with water and sealing with the oil before bed. And still loving the morning results.

  • onyinyechi uwakwemdike

    1. Where do I start from? Well I am ‘so over’: my hair not staying moisturised and tangle-free, shrinkage, single strand knots, long detangling and wash sessions, retwisting my hair at night on days that I wear my hair out, twists/braids that can’t last 3 days without looking like locs, the fact that I can’t readily get natural hair products here in Nigeria, wen I do they usually very expensive ….still love my hair though..This journey is way better than the first, at least I know what to do now.

    2. I am following through with my castor oil use, as I said last week, I purchased JBCO, mixed some with jojoba oil. Also got an applicator bottle  which I use to easily apply the mix on my scalp and edges. I have a protective style now (box braids), so I spray my hair with water/coconut/jojoba oil mix and seal with castor oil. :) . I also recently introduced my mum’s friend, who has alopecia, to castor oil. I gave her some of my JBCO…lets see how it goes.

  • tanisha v

    1.  I am so over this humidity. I will have a bangin twist out in the morning and by the time i get home its up in a puff. then i have to start all over.

    2.  No challenges at all i love castor oil

  • valeriesmith15

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I don’t do twists or twist out or braid out,  My hair never really comes out properly

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Yes, I did, I’m trying to massage my hair more, but I do forget.

  • Symone Michelle

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I am so over my hairstyles never turning out as great as they did the first time, Im so over re twisting at night, and I think that’s it for now lol

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did good last week, I’ve been slacking some but I’m picking it back up this week.

  • Shade

We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I am so over people asking me why i did the big chop and acting like am different just because i chose not to put relaxer in my hair anymore.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great last week. I met all my expectations and i am beginning to see a bit of improvement around my edges.

  • Ikila

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
Ooooo-Weeee! My “so-over” list is far too long to list on this post without seeming “so over the top” (hehehehe) so I’ll give you my top “so overs: a. I’m “so over” whaving to twist my hair EVERY night; b. I’m “so over”having to schedule my weekends around my wash/DC/detangle routine; c. I’m “so over”being a PJ!! lol
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Surprisingly I did great considering I was on vacation.  I stuck to my goal of applying my Castor oil 3x during the week. YAY ME! :-) )  No challenges thus far….

  • Clewis 27

Im sooo over the extreme dryness and frizzines. Im also over the retwisting routine at night. Im so glad its summer so i can rock an afro :) . And im sooooo over the looks i sometimes get and ppl asking me why i dont get a relaxer.

Last week i did ok, i could of did better. I didnt use the jbco as much as i would of like due my busy schedule. I think i used it at the most 2x this week. Plus im running out and i need to buy a new bottle. I only have about 2 times to use the rest. One thing i have noticed is since i havent been using jbco as often as im used to, my hair is more frizzy and looks unkept no matter what i do to it. And its definately feels dryer. I need to get back to my old routine asap!!!

    • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

Ohhh the looks. YES! I remember I was in Kroger one day; granted I was probably kind of dry but she actually came up to me & handed me her business card for her salon with that look of “here chile, you need this”. I just politely handed it back to her after glancing at it because she didn’t have any services on there I could use. And said “sorry ma’am but I won’t be needing this”.

  • Nell

    1. I’m so over retwisting every night to get definition. I’m so over the time it takes to do do my hair (the pre-poo, wash, DC, detangling and the styling– uughh so much time!)
    2. I don’t think my concoction is working so I’ve went back to applying the castor oil directly to my scalp every other day… seems to be working!

    • http://twitter.com/1Khyrra miakhyrra

Retwisting everynight, I gave up on that a long time ago! I feel you on that! LOL

  • Tenika

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I am so over fighting to keep my hair moisturized. That is a daunting battle.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great last week. Still applying JBCO to my edges

  • Grace

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I am so over, the whole process involved from the start to the end of washing my hair. Feels like hard work. I am so over at times when my hair does not style the way i want it to. I am so over the detangling process.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Did well last week. Still oiling my edges and ends with my castor oil. Been very lazy just cant b bothered to style my hair. Think its time i put it in a protective hairstyle.

  • Tishana Trainor

I am soooooo late checking in, but its been a crazy week! :)

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I am sooooo over the relaxer vs natural debates… Like, let it go. I am over detangling, even tho I finger detangled my hair for the first time this weekend! :) I hate retesting, so I opt to not do it. My hair takes too long to twist because its short (3.5 in) and THICK! I’m also over wash and go’s because they are a big fail for me. Lastly, I am over these crazy prices for products. Even when they do work, I don’t want to feel like I can’t pay my daughter’s tuition to buy them.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I maintained my altered routine, washing with clay on Saturdays, but added Curl Junkie’s Hibiscus and Honey Hair Butta to my routing on Saturday, sealing with regular cold pressed Castor Oil. The JBCO is a little too think for the 100+ degree weather here in Atlanta. I also Curls of the World (local to Georgia curlsoftheworld.com) Pomade which is mostly castor oil on in between days. My challenge is my workouts. I want to wear my twist outs, but my hair frizzes out, so I’m back to cowashing on workout days. I now use MyHoneyChild’s Honey Bee Conditioner, which I love. I think I wanna do mini twists (my arms are screaming at me as I type this) for a while till my workout routine becomes habit.

I have to say I really love being a part of this challenge. I appreciate that there are challenges like this where we can care for our hair together! :)

  • ECU-Diva

     1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
Well I am so over buying all the expensive products, when I have already found products that work for me. I have learned that it does not have to be expensive to be good. Another thing, I am so over people making comments about me having a Jerri Curl (UGH&*!) I also so over trying to keep my hair from shrinking, because I have a little length now, I wanted it to show. It will all come in good time though, so I have to be patient!!

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I followed through with all of my goals and my hair is growing, growing, growing. I can’t say if I have a TWA anymore because it is longer. Whatever it is doing though, I am lubbbbbing it. I have not had anymore challenges so far and I am enjoying myself during this challenge. I even was able to gather my hair and attach a faux puff. I realized that I had enough hair to make a puff with my own hair, although not as big and high, I still lubbbbed it!!! I am gonna post a pic of my hair with the faux puff.

  • Norkita

Hello everyone, I have a question and I need a little help. I have type 4 hair, it is very kinky and coily and my hair growns up and out, and I have about 3-3.5 inches of hair right now. My question is how can I get my hair to start growing downward, or is it too short to do that yet?

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

      Hey love!

This is a great question to post on our FB fanpage. I repost all questions and then everyone can answer.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

Yes, I’m still trying to get use to the products and what works and what doesn’t work.  I’m not giving up by no means and just tired.  When I was permed my aunt told me what to use because she took care of my hair.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?  I did very well, I actually believe that my hair is growing.  I’m going to continue what I am doing.  All I want is healthy hair with no chemicals.

  • felisity1983

    I am sooo over…
    -my hair getting frizzy
    -the long wash sessions
-and the time it takes to style my hair

I did pretty well last week, oiled my scalp every other day and my edges every day. Oh, I did my first wash and go and I loved it. I wore it for two days before I twisted it up and I must say it wasn’t to bad. I think I might do it again some day.

The “So-Called” miracle product that is going to give me waist-length

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Everything is going  along. I’m sticking to my  regimen.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? YES.  I am “so over”  my hair shrinking up in the humidity, I am “so over” having to re-do my styles so they look cute the next day, and I am “so over” having to change my products to allow for the humidity.  And still, random folks trying to touch my hair!  SOOO OVER IT!!!
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Not as well as I have been, I forgot to oil a few times, I didn’t wash as much, and one day, I used far too much! (I was trying ou a new applicator)  But, I am getting back on track.

  • Ashley Hill

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?

I am SO OVER the frizziness, and definitely SO OVER the hours it takes to wash, moisturize, detangle and twist my hair!! Missing my straight hair but not the relaxer part lol

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Last week was the same, I may have to cut back on oiling scalp 3xs to probably once a week bc my scalp is becoming to oily and its making my face look super shiny by the end of the day no matter how much I massage it in, it still seems to make it to my face and behind my ears lol. I will continue to seal in my edges and ends daily with a dab of CO along with my Shea butter mixture, just so my hair doesn’t look so dry and frizzy.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?I did great in week 5.  I followed my goals, no challenges since I’m done with summer class and not exhausted when I get home, so I have energy to put the Castor Oil in my hair.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I am so over retwisting every night and all these NEW products on the market!!! It really shows u how much women of color really mean to the economy. Everybody is chiming in on the “Natural Hair Craze”. Target, now Walmart (Most of these stores have even given us our own aisle-apart from the regular sold hair products) not to mention all these beauty supply stores…..it makes decisions on what is best for your hair harder and harder.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Week 5…I have to admit, I got a little lazy. I may have ran my fingers over my ends once or twice. Did you follow through with your goals? Not at all:(
Any challenges thus far? Well, I believe my challenges are over, I know what my hair likes and expects so, I’m gonna continue spoiling her;)

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? LOL I do love it but I find that as my one year of healthy curls anniversary rolls around, I am finding those little things that annoy me! I am tired of waking up to pillows drenched in castor and coconut oil and I am tired of putting up my hair wet into a banana clip and having a damp middle when I get home 8 hours later. I also hate having to scrunch out the crunch for my everyday wash and go’s. I wish someone would just invent that perfect holding, moisturizing but non crunchy wash and go gel!
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did very well last week. I feel like I have a routine now and don’t have to think so much about if I am applying it the minimum number of times. While I am not a strict schedule, I manage to average 4-5 applications every week to my scalp with every day application to my edges and eyebrows.
I can see growth! Happy curls to the rest of you!

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I’m sooo over people giving me the ‘stare’ as in ‘oh my  you chopped off your hair?’ I’m so over people recommending other types of braiding styles I could try or texturizsers I could use if I wanted to be ‘natural’. I’m so over people thinking I should hide my hair in a weave. I cut it and I’m rocking my TWA. As for maintenance, I’m still struggling with dryness, so over the nightly twist  ups and early morning take downs and ‘wash n go’ no such thing. But I’m loving it nonetheless.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did ok. I used castor oil 3 times last week. I actually found Jamaican castor oil versus the organic castor oil I’ve been using which was much much thicker. I find that if I know I won’t have enough time to deal with my hair I leave it alone vs. doing a rush job. I’m finding my hair to be somewhat dry though and I need to address this. I also feel like it could do with a trim and will do that in a few weeks. I have noticed growth which is exciting.

I’m just over not having consistently soft hair and staple products/regimen.  I’ve been “committed” to being a natural for just over a year, and I’d just like to find products and a regimen that yield the same results on a consistent basis.  Some steps I have down pat, others are taking forever to determine.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

I did better last week.  Even though I had my hair in an afro, I remembered toward the end of the week that I needed to oil my scalp and ends.

Wow what a great question for this week, I was so over the retwisting every night and co-washing twice a week and then deep conditioning every week, so i put in some kinky twist.

Everything went well the last week did one washing moisturizing the hair at least times a week with SM thickening milk and them follow up with jbco i also started putting the castor oil on my eyebrows hoping they get a little thicker.  I hope i have some with my eyebrows like my hair ;-) – keeping my fringers crossed

    1. I am “so over” having to constantly moisturize my hair throughout the day. I don’t really mind doing the Bantu knot protective style on my hair however having to repeat the process every other night gets a bit tiring.
    2. Last week I didn’t do too bad. I slacked a bit on my applications of the oil. I ended up reducing to about 4 applications instead of everyday. That’s ok though because I still achieved my goal:) My challenge this week has been keeping my hair moist throughout the day. My scalp has been fine as far as moisture goes. I find that I need to apply oils/ creams a couple times a day. I do wash my hair quite often but most of that is co washing. I will try and do less washing this week to see if that helps with the dryness. (We also recently had a huge heatwave in my area recently so that coud be a factor also) Hopefully I can get this under control.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? The process it takes to wash my hair. It takes me sometime to get it detangled since I have to put so much love into it.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I have been doing well with the application of the castor oil.  What I have made is naptural85 body and oil mix which has castor oil in it and I put it in a old lotion bottle.  I apply it daily and whenever I want to create shine and moisture for my hair.  My hair has been happy and shiny.

I think the beginning was the worse. I had no idea and did no research, so my hair looked a hot mess! But once you get over that it is fine.

I have really enjoyed this so far. Glad to have some growth where I had some loss. But still using everyday and washing oil for something extra. I try not to use by itself because my husband hates the smell.

I am over having to plan ahead to have my hair look cute. There is no more waking up in the morning and going. It takes a lot of time when natural. I am also over the massive shrinkage and that my true length doesn’t show. A lot of people say OMG your hair is so short! But in reality it is a little longer than the last time they saw me with relaxed hair. Either way I love my hair.

    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Last week went well. I am still on track with my castor oil. But I must say that I am not as motivated. I didn’t see much of a length improvement but I saw a improvement in thickness. I just have to be patient and keep the faithful. No matter what keep loving my hair. Long or short! Its beautiful!

    1.  I am “so over” every single product line now being “natural” then I look at the ingredients and it’s full of garbage that is not good for my hair…mineral oil, petroleum, and then the other chemicals alcohols all that. I also can’t stand that every natural product is  riDICulously expensive.  I feel like corporations are cashing in and it is frustrating…why should I pay $30 for 2 oz of some curly souffle, meringue, milk what have you…..please! ok I’m done. :)
    2. I have been able to follow through with my goals.  The only problem I have is that I am in the pool  alot this summer and I am shampooing my hair more than I would normally. I am not sure if just cowashing gets rid of the chlorine so……there’s that. Otherwise I have no complaints and my hair is happy overall!

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”?
I am so over the shrinkage when I of wash n go’s, I like to be able to see my true length. I am so over the big puff my hair becomes when I do a braid/twist out from the humidity. I am also so over the fact that everyone thinks natural hair is soooo easy & it’s no! Us naturals have to put time into our hair with detangling, styling etc.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did wash and seal my hair last week however I wore my hair curly and I didn’t apply my JBCO nightly like I should have.

    1. We all love being natural, but is there anything about being natural that you are “so over”? I too am so over having headaches from rocking a puff, especially when it’s my favorite style these days. I’m so over it taking at least 2hrs to style my hair on wash days; between washing, detangling, and styling.
    2. How did you do last week (week 5)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? This has been a really rough week, I think I only used my JBCCO once. This week coming things should settle down and I’ll be back on my routine. The good thing is that I did you Shea Moisture Souffle and it seemed to keep me well moisturized with my lack of use of the JBCCO.

  • Delra sutton

I’m so over half my hair curling up and the doing nothing. I’m so over my hair drying out at the end of my work day. i’m so over spending 2-4 hours trying to set my hair for the next day not to have it turn out right

    2. the heat wave is over YAY. but i added a cap full of CO to my pre poo and to and in my DC this week and i’m about to seal my hair with it tonight.

  • KLeeBaby

I am so over trying to keep.the frizzies away, finding hair styles that will last and perfecting styles so I can look good. However, I love being natural and what’s good for you is never easy to maintain.

I didn’t have any castor oil challenges. But I did have hair styling challenges. I can now tell.the difference In the the thickness and length of my hair…it is growing!

  • shanta ferguson

    1. I am so over this whole shrinkage foolishness. I hate that my hair snaps back like I don’t have any at all.

    2. I ollowed through on my goals. Only challenge is keeping the oil off my sheets at night when I sleep.
