2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?

My answers:

1. Absolutely! I will definitely use castor oil regularly in my regimen. I’ve been using it in my regimen since the first castor oil challenge started in March. My plan of use will be to use it on my edges and on my scalp. I plan to use Moroccan oil on the length of my hair to seal in the moisture.

2.  I am definitely going out with a bang as planned.  I applied JBCO to my scalp and edges 4 nights this week.  My hair is growing soooo fast! Watch my most recent length check video.

3. Yup! I’ve already signed up!

Do you Tweet? If so use hashtag #KCCM so we all can follow the convo. Feel free to include me @BlakIzBeautyful

    2. Yes yes. I only missed like 2 days due to packing and all that my hair is doing marvelous. I’ve gotten over an inch in the past month so im excited to do a side by side comparison.

    3. Probably not. I mean I loved it but im already in some other challenges along with a busy class schedule so yeah. But I may check everyone’s progress from time to time.

    1. Castor Oil had become a beloved holy grail item for me since the Spring Challenge. I even look for moisturizers that contain castor oil now.
    2. I did well last week, I used castor oil on my edges and to seal every other night.

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? I will continue to use Castor Oil, especially on my edges as those are my problem areas that are in need of growth. After i’m done with my protective style (tree braids), i may begin using it in my scalp overall as well.

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Definitely! I’ve also discovered that Castor Oil is great for my skin, as it really soothes and moisturizes my prickly heat (heat rash) riddled face and neck! LOL
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did great! I washed my hair and used the Castor Oil as a pre-wash hot oil treatment.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
Nope, I will leave the slot open for others who may want to participate, but I’m super duper grateful I participated in this challenge and it’s been a total blasty blast!!!

    • Tishana Trainor

Leave the slot for others… You’re so sweet. I may do the same, and just check in on the site without posting.

  • Tishana Trainor

    Hello, everyone! :)
    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Definitely. I think using the castor oil has really helped me retain moisture and stopped any breakage I was experiencing. I plan to use it to seal and as part of my deep conditioning.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Last week, ending today was a rough one. I still applied the castor oil, with coconut oil, as many times as I said. But, I was inside a lot and the a/c dried my hair out. I had a BOMB wng a couple weeks ago and haven’t been able to replicate it, even with the same products. So, I went back to what I know and sealed it every night with castor oil and coconut oil (This stuff is MAGIC together) after applying some moisturizer. I didnt achieve the same curls as the first time, but my hair is healthy.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
YES!!!!!! Already signed up when it was announced!

Do you use cold pressed castor oil or JBCO and coconut oil?? I want to try that combination as well.

      • Tishana Trainor

I just use regular coconut oil, warmed in my hands, with cold pressed added. Its such a juicy mixture… I love it. But when I get some more JBCO, I will use that, too.

  • Nell

    1. I plan on continuing using castor oil. I love it! I think I might use it with coconut oil for my next go round
    2. I did great last week! Since I’ve been focusing on my edges the most I put oil on my edges about twice a day for three or four days this week. I even got my sister applying castor oil to her edges :)
    3. I am definitely signing up for the fall challenge! I’m was excited to see the growth I had in such a short period of time. My mom told me a few months ago that my hair just doesn’t grow and I need to be ok with that, but this challenge let me see that it does grow (with tlc and dedication)! I want to continue my growing streak during the fall and although I slacked a bit throughout the challenge, these weekly updates have
definitely made me better at being consistent with taking care of my hair. Thanks Jenell!

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

What does your mom think now?

  • onyinyechi uwakwemdike

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Castor oil is already a staple in my regimen. i usually mix it with jojoba oil to seal in moisture and apply on my scalp. for my edges i use castor oil straight up.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did good..went according to my plan of using castor oil about 4 times that week.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? Most definitely, this challenge has really helped my to keep a consistent regimen :)

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? -Yes castor oil has become and will continue to be a staple in my hair regimen moving forward. I will use it by oiling my scalp and my edges and for hot oil treaments and also for my eyebrows!!! 2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? -I did great last week, I used JBCO mixed with coconut oil to oil my scalp everyday last week. I also used it on my edges 3 nights and on my eyebrows 3 nights. I followed through with all of my goals and no challenges. 3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? -I probably will not be joining the fall castor oil challenge because I will be getting my hair braided and will not be able to do the length checks. (super sad face!!!!) But I will continue to use my JBCO while I have my hair braided and will join the next challenge in the winter if you are having one.

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

I think you should join. The length checks aren’t mandatory. And if you have a before pic during our last length check in, you can do your after pic at the end of the challenge on Dec 1 and see great results because you used Castor oil AND you had a protective style. Super growth!!!!!

  • msblacc29

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? I will continue to use Castor oil, I think I am going to have to cut it a little more so that it doesn’t irritate the nape of my neck.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I did better than I had been, I need to work on being more consistent, my edges are not growing like I feel they should be so I need to really focus on that.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
    Yes, I will be!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/naturalbeautiqueen NaturalBeauti Hester

Absolutely, it has minimized my breakage and my hair is thicker than before. I see the difference in my roots. I plan to use it in my leave in and deep conditioner. I have been using it with coconut oil they seem to have a great combination.
Last week I did the same as before mostly due to the micros. i oiled my scalp every other day. I removed my micros two days ago. I did a overnight conditioner which usual helps with detangling as well. No challenges besides the breakage and shedding due to the removal of weave, ugh.
Definitely and I hope both of my sisters join with me. :) Going to sign up now

  • clewis

Castor oil will definately be a staple in my regime. I plan to continue to use it on my edges and root of my hair. I have recently started applying it directly to my scalp and also my eyebrows
I did good last week. I applied jbco mixed with coconut oil 4x last week. I had no challenges for this week.
I will definately be joining the fall challenge. I joined the summer challenge to grow thicker hair and grow in my edges. I have been getting so many comments about how thick my hair has been getting. My hair also grown in length. I didn’t realize the length growth until I signed up for the fall challenge and realized the front part of my hair can reach my eyebrows and the side can reach my jaw line. It definately wasn’t that length when I first started this challenge :)

  • shanta ferguson

So this week 12.. Here goes…..

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Most certainly will. Castor Oil helped my hair grow quite a bit during this challenge. I will continue to put it on my scalp and I will also put it on my ends during my twist outs and flat twist outs. I have fallen in love with this stuff. Doing this challenge has really help me love my hair more. I have even named Tay-Tay. She has her own identity.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through your goals? Any challenges thus far?
So last week was a major challenge. I put Castor Oil on my scalp like once. Which sucked because I was suppose to do a hot oil treatment using it.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
I will be joining the challenge but the only difference will be is I will have braids. Is it still possible to do the challenge? I will have them for about two months….

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

Braid + castor oil challenge = MAJOR GROWTH!!!

  • KLeeBaby

    1. Castor Oil IS a staple in my hair regimen. I will continue to use it on my edges and scalp too. I use coconut oil to seal in my moisture. I LOVE the JBCO w/coconut oil!! I am going to use that in the up coming fall challenge.
    2. I didn’t do too well last week. I was so busy I kept forgetting, so I only used CO three times last week. However, I’ve been using it on my son’s edges and hair and he loves it.
    3. I am definitely joining the Fall challenge…actually, I have all ready signed up!

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

Woohoo!!! Fall challenge, here we come!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1639362303 Monique Grannum

I love how the castors makes my hair feel and it stays moisterized longer. I will definitely keep using it as part of my regimen. I will continue to use on my scalp and length of my hair.
I applied the oil to my scalp my usual 3-4 times but neglected my ends. I will be sure to do better this last week of the challenge.
I have already registered for the fall challenge. Why stop now? The results have been amazing.

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

I know! Let’s keep the ball rolling.

  • Doline

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?Definitely!!! I plan on using it for my edges, scalp, hot oil treatments, and sealing in alternation with my other two oils coconut oil and argan oil.2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?I did good, followed up on what I did last week with using the JBCO as a sealer as well as on my edges. No challenges this week.3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?I plan too, and I want to use the JBCO for even more than I did in this summer challenge!

  • Thianita

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Ummm…yeah. Just adding it to my regular cocktail of olive oil and tea-tree oil for sealing is a must. I love spraying it around the edges too. I did that more times this week and really liked the results.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
This week was probably my best week. I washed and steamed with the JBCO/olive/tea-tree mixture like usual, but then I sprayed it on my edges at least 3x this week. I liked the results. My edges are still fuzzy fuzzy fuzzy though!!! *sigh* I really have to retwist after every wash instead of trying to fake it like I used to. There’s an entire new lock growing in the back of my head, right near the nape of my neck. I’m like, “WHERE DID ALL THAT EXTRA HAIR COME FROM?!” lol.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I’m not sure yet. Challenge or no, I’m still going to rock JBCO.

    • http://kinkycurlycoilyme.com/ Jenell : BlakIzBeautyful

I actually twist my hair before washing and then leave them in.

    Check In Questions:
    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Yes Castor oil has already become a staple since the beginning of this challenge. I noticed in the beginning it was hard to remember to use JBCO but after a while when I saw results I would find myself using it in the morning and at night. Once the summer sun made my hair become more dry than usual I started using JBCO in a spray bottle and then found and fell in love with Natural RoXX daily hair moisturizer which includes JBCO in it, as well as peppermint and Aloe Vera gel. I plan to continue using JBCO nght to moisturize my scalp and ends and as a hot oil treatment every other week.2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?I did good but went away for a mini weekend get-away and forgot my JBCO went swimming and dreaded the dry hair aftermath after swimming in chlorine…good thing for Pantene Medium thick hair conditioner I was able to salvage my poor head of coils. 3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?Yes I will be poining the Fall challenge it was fun and made the growing out phase after the Big Chop a bit more tolerable. I often find I get frustrated with the slow growth of my hair. But using JBCO i have seen signifigant results. SO once again Thank You Jenell for making hair transitioning bearable even if from afar!

    I sure

    1. Castor oil will definitely be a staple in my hair regimen. I continue to use it as I have during this challenge, as much as possible lol!
    2. Last week, I maintained my goal of using castor oil daily and massaging my nape area especially. I have not had any challenges thus far with incorporating it into my regimen since I replaced it for coconut oil, which I used to use daily as well.
    3. I have not joined the Fall challenge as of yet, but I will continue on with my usage just in case I don’t sign up :)

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Yes I will be using castor oil in my regimen. Before this challenge I was using castor oil.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did not follow through with my goals. I struggled to keep up with my routine. I put mini twists in my hair and that kinda distracted me from rubbing JBCO on my edges.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
I am not sure if I will be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge

    1) YES!!! It will become a staple in my regimen!! I have loved the results that I have received, even though I have had set backs and frustrations with my hair. 2) Last week was good, I followed through with my goals but was disappointed that I had to cut some split ends, which really chopped up my growth but I will trudge on!! My challenges thus far is to STOP BEING LAZY and set my hair for bed at night so that I won’t have anymore set backs!! 3) YES!! I was gonna sit this one out, but I have come to love and enjoy the time and knowledge that I have gotten with my Curlfriends!!!

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Yes please! I will continue to use it on my scalp (keeps the itchies at bay) and to seal my hair, especially in winter.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Last week was a breeze. I still have in the senegalese twists (will take them out for the length check) so I had no problems applying my castor oil.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? yes!

Most certainly will be a staple and have already added it to my personal HG List. I will continue to use it to my edges and my scalp. For the next challenge I think I will add it to my eyebrows as part of the routine!

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?

Going strong with my goals and no problems thus far. I applied it to my edges 6 days during the week and to my scalp 3 days.

    INDEED!! :)

    • Tazzee

I added CO to my eyebrows when I got a bad wax and the results were great. I tried adding to my eyelashes because I really want them to get thicker. I added to much and had greasy eyes, LOL. I may try again next challenge.

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? From the moment I tried castor I had resolved that it would become a permanent part of my regimen. I love it that much. I will continue to use it in the way that I am currently. I will use it on my scalp and to seal and also use the JBCO on my edges and nape.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I followed through with all my goals. No challenges at all at this point. 3. Castor Oil will definately become a staple and I plan to use it everyday in the next challenge. Last week I bombed out with only one time so I have to be more determined on the next challenge. I’m signing up today for the next challenge.

    Greetings Ladies!

    1. Yes CO is definitely part of my hair care regimen. I’ll continue to apply it to my scalp and edges. When it gets cooler I’ll be applying it directly to my hair when I twist. My CO/EcoStyler mixture was a little too heavy during the warm months.

    2. No real challenges. I met my goals of scalp application at least 3 days and edge application daily. I prefer to apply to my scalp more often but sometimes I forget when I don’t twist at night – which isn’t often.

    3. I wasn’t going to join but I want to monitor the breakage I’ve experienced along my hairline. I know I won’t document the changes without the challenge so I’m in!

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Yes, JBCO is my staple! I am so impressed by the health of my hair with just this consistent use over the summer! I plan to continue my scalp massages at least three times a week, use it as a pre-poo oil and on my edges nightly. I also use it to seal my hair with the L.O.C method.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
I did well last week and continued with my regular use. I fell off a little with my nightly application to my edges but I am determined to get back on it!

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I was going back and forth about it but think I will. I felt comfortable with how I have included Castor Oil in my routine, so I didn’t think I needed the challenge. But after thinking about it, I can definitely use the accountability factor and the prizes are a great incentive! ;)

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? I have always used JBCO maybe not as diligent and aggressive as I have been over the last few weeks. I love the results so yes! I will continue to keep it as a staple in my Natural Hair Care.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? My week went well. I planned to keep my hair protected most of the week but the Lazy Days of summer got to me so I did not mini twist as I planned to. But I continued to massage and twist my hair every night. The only challenge I am having is that I do not see as much growth as I had expected. I want my edges to grow back really really thick
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I will and I have registered

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? I plan to stick with castor oil as I have seen some thickness in other parts of my hair.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Still doing the same things and seeing some growth in the same areas and little to no growth in other areas. It is what it is.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I plan on joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge,

Hello everyone! It’s almost the weekend again! YAY! :D
    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Most definitely! I’ll be using it as the only oil in my rhassoul clay mix, my scalp massages, & I’m going to use it mixed with coconut oil to seal my moisture.
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? I didnt do a rhassoul treatment. I was super lazy again so only used it to seal my moisture.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I haven’t decided yet.

Sorry everybody! I just moved into my apartment last weekend. Grad school starts Monday and I’m finally settled in!

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Hell to the yes! I have 1/2 a bottle of Rosemary JBCO (which is definitely becoming my fav, I love the tingle) and 2 bottles of regular JBCO! The only thing I want to increase is my hot oil treatments. I’m living in NY up near Canada where it’s already 59 degrees at night (in the summer time) so I know the winters are brutal here! My main goals are to make sure my hair is strong and moisturized. I’m sure adding JBCO hot oil treatments to my regime can only help!

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far?
Terrible! This week as well… I’m getting back on track. I’m going to oil my scalp tonight and oil my ends tomorrow when I take down these twists! My hair is really growing. I might start wearing my twists out for a week or two at a time and then doing a twist out.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
Yes!!!! I just need to stock up on the Rosemary JBCO. It’s a amazing!

  • MahoganyDST

    Heyyyy Errbody!!

Castor oil is a staple of mine and will continue to be part of my regi. I use it in my deep condish, to oil my scalp and seal my ends.

I OK last week I did use it at least three times.

Yes I would like to participate in the fall challenge. Can we use our final pics from this challenge to start the next one or do we need new pics?

  • Karemel

    1. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it?
Castor oil will most certainly be a staple in my hair care regimen. Even if I hadn’t already joined the Fall Challenge, I would continue to use the Castor Oil. My hair has gotten used to it, and it loves it.

    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? Last week was my challenge week. I discovered that Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Whipped Pudding don’t work together in my hair. Add castor oil on the ends to seal? “GREASY”! Then my family and I traveled south by car, and I just couldn’t do what I normally do while sitting in the car, ya know? I’m back on track now, though.

    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge?
I’ve registered for the Fall Challenge. I just need to upload pictures. I’m looking forward to this.

    • Karemel

I forgot to say that I’ll use it on my scalp and edges for some thin areas, and I’ll seal with it. I didn’t use it in a hot oil treatment, so I may do that during the Fall Challenge.

  • vicky

    1. Yes. I will continue to use it as pre-poo. I will also use it as a hair, scalp, edges, & eye brow treatment as well as a sealant.
    2. No not entirely. My challenge was I let my busy schedule affect that and I would fall asleep because of my tiredness.
    3. No.

  • Anterria

1.Yes I will continue to use castor oil. I will use it as a prepoo, edges, scalp, and a sealant.
2.Yes I met my goals and I havent had any challenges this week.
    3. Yes I will participate in the Fall castor oil challenge

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=20203287 Timia Jacobs

. Will Castor Oil become a staple in your hair regimen moving forward? If so, how do you plan to continue using it? Castor oil will become a staple in my regimen, as a moisturizer especially paying attention to my edges
    2. How did you do last week (week 11)? Did you follow through with your goals? Any challenges thus far? A lot better, it’s not bothering my scalp as much as it was.
    3. Will you be joining the Fall Castor Oil Challenge? I will, I will be joining ASAP!!

  • Funkystarkitty50

I definitely see some changes in the thickness of my hair. It is naturally very fine and delicate. I use JBCO every night to massage my scalp and the ends of my twists. I will continue with my current regimen and see if there is further improvement.
