Sept 1, 2013 – Sept 7, 2013
If you didn’t register for the challenge go register first, then come back and check in.
This is the first week of the challenge and I’m sure we are all so very motivated. Hair usually grows at an average rate of 1/2 inch per month, so without the challenge, you could expect to see 1.5 inches of new growth. So then with the challenge you could expect to see more than that. Perhaps 2 inches? Maybe!
Over the next 3 months you all have committed to growing longer, thicker, fuller hair by using castor oil. Rubbing castor oil on your scalp and the roots of your hair will regenerate new hair growth within months. This will also thicken thinning hair. The anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal properties of Ricinoleic Acid in castor oil protects the scalp and hair from infections which can cause hair loss. The Omega-9 fatty acids in castor oil also nourish the hair and prevent the scalp from drying. Castor oil is a humectant as it draws moisture into the hair and skin. Applying castor oil on hair will keep it looking soft, shiny and strong.
Some of you may notice your scalp will start to itch excessively this week – if this is the case, don’t be alarmed. The first time you start to use castor oil it has to detoxify your scalp. Once this is done, you shouldn’t have any more itching (1-2 weeks). However, if the itching is unbearable and you are scratching so much that you are causing your scalp to tear, blend your castor oil with another carrier oil (coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil) until your scalp gets accustom to the intensity of the castor oil and then wean yourself off of the carrier oils until you can use castor oil alone.
In the video below I show you what my naked hair looks like after it has dried with NO product and NO manipulation (twists/braids). If you haven’t already, Subscribe to my YT channel for hair tutorial, product reviews, Hair Care Demos & More!
